Before moxibustion, first draw a cross on flat ground. Moxa is burned at the center of the cross first. It is said not to moxa the Heavenly God (Tianshen), nor the Earthly God (Dishen), but only to moxa the Spleen God (Pishen). After this is completed, then moxa the sick child. For boys, moxa the left hand; for girls, the right hand. Use a bamboo strip four or five cun long. Have the child hold it firmly in a fist. Place the bamboo strip on the two indistinct hollows located on the left and right sides below the waist eyes. Use two such bamboo strips with their tips pressing against one hollow; the point where the middle tip falls is the Yao Yan (Lumbar Eye) acupoint. Thus determine the two hollows (Wo Wo), taking the upper tip as the Yao Yan acupoint. The size of the moxa cone should be adjusted according to the child's age and the severity of the illness: small ones are as large as the head of a chopstick, large ones as large as the tip of a little finger. Burn fourteen cones (Si Qi) for more, or seven times three (San Qi) for fewer. After moxibustion, for boys, withdraw the fire qi from the hollow acupoint on the left ankle. For children under three years old, burn three cones; if the condition is severe, burn fourteen cones. When applied during the onset of the disease, the sores will heal, showing efficacy. Relying on this method, lives were saved; others...
