Emergency Prescription: Take one scallion head, remove the roots but retain the mucilage, dip it in sesame oil (Sesamum indicum oil), and lubricate it into the anus; the meconium will naturally pass.
Another method: Dip the rod of a small steelyard scale in oil and insert it into the anus to promote natural bowel movement.
Verified Prescription:
Human milk (4 he) Scallion white (1 cun)
Decoct together, divide into four doses; urination will then become unobstructed.
Feng Luzhan stated: Acquired toxins are easy to identify, whereas congenital ones are difficult to clarify. Mild cases manifest as sores. Initially resembling wind-induced wheals, they gradually develop into small lymph node swellings (scrofula). Once scratched, dampness arises and spreads in patches, resembling tinea capitis with white scales, appearing all over the body upon exposure. These sores contain insects, hence named "insect sac" (Chong Bao), implying origin from the fetal sac. This condition is essentially caused by the interaction of dampness and fire, with excessive blood heat and toxicity. As the interstices (Cou Li, referring to skin texture and pores) open further, the pathogenic factors intensify. Itching indicates Qi deficiency, while pain indicates Blood deficiency. The syndrome belongs to the Fu organs. Prolonged illness leads to dual deficiency of Qi and Blood, causing the condition to arise from heat and subsequently attack internally due to deficiency. Treatment should primarily focus on supporting the interior and resolving toxicity. However, if nodules form at the vertex during recovery, it signifies the upward rush of toxins from the six Yang meridians, a sign of flaming fire toxicity ascending. If lesions appear at the vertex from the onset, it indicates severe congestion of congenital toxin attacking the Yang regions. Sparse hair with white scales that persist for a long time is named "bald sore" (Tu Chuang); older children suffering from brain phagedenic disease (Nao Gan) with non-growing bald patches suffer because the Kidney (Shen), whose flourishing manifests in the hair, has damaged Qi and Blood due to phagedenic heat, failing to nourish the hair. Lesions on the limbs result from long-standing Spleen deficiency and invasion of damp-heat. "Startle sores" arise not from external objects but from disrupted Qi and Blood; stagnation occurs in Zang organs, while overflow into Fu organs reaches the skin to form sores. "Silver-clinging sores," appearing between the eyebrows, indicate Lung heat. "Wind sores" also spread over the body with small lesions, commonly known as scabies. "Insect nest sores" contain insects resembling fine lice within the nests. For treating various sores, if pain and itching are unbearable, or if the patient is irritable with dark complexion indicating blood heat, cold-natured herbs such as Scutellariae Radix (Huang Qin), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huang Lian), and Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Ku Shen) are suitable. For obese individuals, treatment should prioritize dispelling wind, drying dampness, and clearing fire. In prolonged illness where dampness steams outward, only tonification and support for expelling toxicity are appropriate; frequent bathing or topical suppression should be avoided to prevent internal attack of toxins. Although sores belong to Heart fire and require cooling agents, heat promotes circulation while cold causes stagnation; stagnation traps toxins, hindering recovery. Therefore, it is better to penetrate the muscle layer to resolve toxicity, harmonize Blood, and nourish Yin. This extinguishes wind-fire, eliminates dryness and itching, consolidates Qi and Blood, and prevents toxic harm. Sores appearing after smallpox/rubella indicate residual toxins; detoxification and blood harmonization are indicated. Startling before or after sores is caused by the sores themselves; regulating the sores is primary. All congenital toxins should be treated by cooling Blood, clearing heat, and resolving toxicity through dispersion outward. Do not lightly resort to external treatments alone, which may drive heat-toxin inward, leading to untreatable conditions, as infants' Zang-Fu organs are delicate, making pathogens enter easily but exit with difficulty. Conditions characterized by scorched-dry sores, cyanotic-black abdomen, lack of pus, widespread toxicity on flanks, lower abdomen, or swelling at the fontanelle are incurable. (From *Jin Nang*)
Chen Shigong stated: Infant residual poison causing ulcerated spots results from inheritance in the fetal sac, possibly due to parents' prior syphilis (Yangmei Chuang). After birth, red spots appear first, followed by ulcers. Severe cases involve destruction of skin and flesh around the mouth corners, anus, eye sockets, nose, and face, interfering with feeding and causing restless crying. Early treatment should use Tu Fuling Tang (Smilax Glabra Decoction) mixed with Ren Zhong Huang powder, administered several times daily in small amounts externally applied Jie Du Zi Jin Dan (Detoxifying Purple Gold Pill). With timely treatment, 30-40% survival is possible; delay leads to widespread ulcers, refusal to feed, and mortality rates exceeding 98%, due to deep-rooted toxicity. (From *Zheng Zong*)
He further stated: Congenital toxin sores result from the mother consuming spicy, hot, and rich foods, transmitting toxins to the fetus. Treatment requires avoiding stimulating foods and breastfeeding immediately after maternal sexual intercourse, otherwise the root cause cannot be eliminated.
He also stated: Some newborns have large holes on their backs. If protected by a membrane covering the viscera, they survive; if exposed without a membrane, death is inevitable. If a membrane exists, administer Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) to the mother; breastfed infants will heal naturally. Some survive but die between ages three and five.
Chen Yuangong stated: Infants aged six months to two years suddenly develop large sores on limbs, abdomen, head, face, and arms, which become toxic and resist all treatments. This is not the child's toxin but the parents'. At conception, exposure to syphilitic vapors or subsequent exposure to lascivious qi and fire evil harms the child. Improper treatment often leads to death. I received a secret transmission and have cured dozens. Not sharing this prescription would betray the benefactor's kindness and condemn infants to death, akin to murder. Use Jin Yin Hua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) 2 liang, Sheng Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthis Radix), Huang Yao, Jin Di Luo each 3 qian, and Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) 2 qian. Decoct in water and take orally; toxins dissipate completely after two doses. For persistent external wounds, apply an external powder made from Snail, Sheng Gan Cao, Er Cha, Zhang Nao, Huang Dan, Shui Fen, Ku Fan each 3 qian, Bing Pian (Borneolum Syntheticum), Qing Fen each 1 qian, Earthworm excrement 5 qian, and She Xiang (Moschus) 3 fen. Mix with Sesamum indicum oil and apply. Granulation tissue forms in days, and wounds close. This is a miraculous formula. Mild cases need only oral medication; severe cases require combined internal and external therapy for rapid recovery. For the benefit of future generations, I publish this formula. Please disseminate widely, share my compassion, and do not hoard it privately to avoid heavenly retribution. (From *Bing Jian*)
Wang Shengzhi stated: Infant residual poison causing ulcerated spots is inherited in the fetal sac. After birth, hot baths or heated clothing trigger the internal toxin via external heat. (From *Li Li*)
Qian Qinglun stated: Infant congenital residual poison causes erythematous, peeling syphilis-like sores without skin, oozing pus and blood, named "Zhu Yi Guai." Some fetuses exhibit this universally. (From *You Ke Liang Fang*)
Luo Qian'an stated: Congenital infection of maternal heat-toxin causes congenital toxin syndromes. The most critical periods for rescue are the third day, seventh day, tenth day, and half-month marks; the fifth and sixth days are also difficult. Rapid administration of three pills of Yan Shou Dan (Longevity Pill), sized like soybeans, leads to cure. (From *Tui Na Mi Shu*)
