Jiang Shiji stated: This condition is caused by summerheat pathogen combined with blood heat. Initially, there are no chills or fever. The swelling is high and protrudes between the skin layers, being superficial and small, with a maximum diameter of one to two cun. It is named "boil" (Jie), commonly referred to as "jiezi". (From *Yu Yi Shuo Yue*)
