When the exterior Qi is deficient, wind-pathogens take the opportunity to invade, causing generalized and facial deficiency-type edema. After administering Wupi Decoction (Five-Bark Decoction) combined with Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) to induce slight sweating, the facial edema subsides; if body swelling persists, Weiling Tang (Weiling Decoction) should be used.
[Note] In children after smallpox, when the exterior Qi is weak and exposure to wind occurs too early, wind-pathogens enter due to the deficiency, causing facial puffiness and generalized edema. Initially, it is appropriate to use Wupi Decoction (Five-Bark Decoction) to induce slight sweating. After taking the medicine, if facial edema subsides but only generalized body swelling remains, Weiling Tang (Weiling Decoction) is the primary treatment.

Residual toxins remain unexpelled, generating smallpox-derived pathogens; mild cases manifest as furuncles, while severe cases form carbuncles. Internally, Jiedu Neituo Tang (Detoxification and Supportive Decoction) is applicable; externally, Hongyu Gao (Red Jade Ointment) is effective.
[Note] Residual toxins after smallpox arise because during the pustule-filling stage, toxic qi was abundant but not fully transformed, remaining stored in the meridians and accumulating without dispersing. Mildly, they erupt as furuncles; severely, they become carbuncles. They may appear in areas of thin muscle or at mobile joints. Regardless of whether they have ulcerated or not, Jiedu Neituo Tang (Detoxification and Supportive Decoction) is the primary internal treatment, applied externally with Hongyu Gao (Red Jade Ointment) on the affected area.

Eye diseases are often caused by wind-heat; smallpox toxins and stagnant fire attack upward into the eyes. Redness, swelling, dryness, and pain are treated with Xigan San (Liver-Washing Powder); corneal opacity covering the pupil is treated with Longdan Tang (Gentian Decoction).
[Note] Eye diseases indeed mostly originate from wind-heat. Smallpox contains intense heat that spreads from interior to exterior. If Qi and Blood are weak, they cannot expel the toxin outward, leading to stagnant fire attacking upward, thus causing eye disease. In cases of redness, swelling, pain, itching, tearing, and inability to open the eyes, Xigan San (Liver-Washing Powder) is the primary treatment. In cases of corneal opacity covering the pupil, itching, and photophobia, modified Longdan Tang (Gentian Decoction) is the primary treatment.
