When Sha poison (Sha toxin) enters the Kidney, it causes severe lower back pain with inability to bend forward or backward. If hot soup or hot wine is mistakenly ingested, it will inevitably lead to restlessness, coma, spasms of the hands and feet, a short tongue, deafness, and ultimately death.
Case Record:
The wife of Huang Jingyu suffered from severe pain in the center of her waist, with stiffness as hard as a board. After mistakenly drinking hot wine, she developed fever, restlessness, lethargy, and surging phlegm. Upon consultation, her left Chi pulse was weak and minute, while the right Chi pulse was flooding and solid, with intermittent pauses. This indicated Sha poison affecting the Kidney. I punctured the Sha veins (visible superficial veins indicating Sha disease) in the popliteal fossa (back of the knee). Initially, only purple-black blood spots oozed without flowing. She was administered Jiangxiang Taohua San (Costus Root and Peach Blossom Powder) taken slightly cold. Subsequently, the Sha veins in the popliteal fossa reappeared. Two more punctures were made, resulting in profuse bleeding. After taking the powder two more times, the Sha symptoms receded, pain decreased, and she recovered after convalescence.
The son of Wu Hengsheng suffered from lower back pain. Four rounds of bloodletting failed to cure him. The condition was characterized by heavy, severe pain radiating to the chest and hypochondrium. Upon consultation, his left hand had no palpable pulse. I declined treatment, and he died six days later.
When Sha poison enters the Large Intestine and Small Intestine, it causes incessant severe pain in the lower abdomen, feeling like being pushed by a board, with unceasing colic. Treatment requires examining both thighs separately, using flexion and extension as diagnostic tests.
Case Record:
The son of Sheng Chengjun suffered from severe lower abdominal pain, often lying on his left side with an inability to flex and extend his left leg. This was Sha disease of the Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian. As the Sha veins were not visible, Mutong Tang (Akebia Decoction) was administered slightly cold for four doses. Only then did the Sha vein appear in the left popliteal fossa. Two punctures released purple-black toxic blood, followed by cold administration of Honghua Tang (Safflower Decoction) to purge. After the Sha symptoms receded, he recovered after convalescence.
Fan Jilian suffered from severe lower abdominal pain, often lying on his right side with an inability to flex and extend his right leg. This was Sha disease of the Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. Four punctures were made into the blue veins in the popliteal fossa, releasing toxic blood, but the condition did not improve. Zhishi Dahuang Tang (Immature Bitter Orange and Rhubarb Decoction) was administered cold. By midnight, the Sha symptoms receded, and he felt somewhat relieved. He eventually recovered after convalescence.
Zhong Mengfang suffered from severe lower abdominal pain. Three rounds of bloodletting failed to cure him. Upon consultation, the pulse was rapid and hurried. I stated, "The Sha poison has already damaged the Zang-Fu organs." I declined treatment, and he died half a month later.
If Sha poison remains in the Qi level, it forms Qi stagnation pain; if it remains in the Blood level, it forms Blood stasis masses/pain; if it obstructs food accumulation, it forms Food stagnation mass pain. This usually occurs because scraping or bloodletting provided slight relief, but the Sha poison was not fully eliminated due to lack of medicinal intervention. The treatment method is: for conditions at the Qi level, use herbs such as Chenxiang (Aquilaria Wood) and Sharen (Amomum Fruit); for conditions at the Blood level, use herbs such as Taoren (Peach Seed) and Honghua (Safflower); for obstruction due to food accumulation, use herbs such as Boluobo (Radish Seed) and Binglang (Areca Nut); if there is residual poison in both Qi and Blood levels, treat both simultaneously; if there is additionally obstruction by food accumulation with residual poison, treat all factors together.
Case Record:
The wife of Wang Jiefu suffered from abdominal pain. After two rounds of bloodletting, a lump suddenly appeared in the left hypochondrium with incessant pain, causing restlessness in sitting and lying positions. Upon consultation, the pulse was Kou (hollow) and sinking-minute. This was due to the retention and stagnation of poison. Susumu San (Lignum Santali Powder) was combined with Sanxiang San (Three Fragrances Powder) and Tao Ren Hong Hua Tang (Peach Kernel and Safflower Decoction), taken slightly warm. The lump dissipated, pain decreased, and she recovered.
Chen Fengshan suffered from colicky abdominal pain. After three rounds of bloodletting, a lump formed under the right hypochondrium with severe, incessant pain, making it impossible to rise from bed. Upon consultation, the pulse was sinking-solid and wiry-tight. This was caused by food accumulation. Awei Wan (Asafoetida Pill) was combined with Lengzhu Tang (Curcuma and Atractylodes Decoction) plus Niuxi (Achyranthes Root), and he recovered.
The wife of Xia Shaoxi suffered from abdominal pain. After slight improvement following bloodletting, a painful lump formed under the left hypochondrium, accompanied by spitting of phlegm and saliva, leaving her bedridden. Upon consultation, the pulse was sinking and slightly slippery. Chenxiang Awei Wan (Aquilaria and Asafoetida Pill) was used with added Beimu (Fritillaria Bulb) and Baijiezi (White Mustard Seed), and she recovered.
Zhang Hongxian's Sha distension transformed into a point of pain above the left breast on the anterior chest. I declined treatment. Half a year later, he died from hemoptysis.
