论头疼目痛 耳聋口 舌生疮 鼻肿 眉落 乌须 瘰串 目生星
天师曰∶上治者，治上焦之症也。如头疼，目痛，耳聋口舌生疮，鼻肿之类。头疼而风入太阳经
也，用川芎一钱，细辛一钱，白芷一钱，柴胡一钱，芍药三钱，半夏一钱，甘
草一钱治之。盖风虽犯太阳，治法不可全治太阳，当上清其邪，故用白芷、川芎、细辛三味以散
之。又用赤芍、甘草。柴胡，以清肝胆之火，胆经与肝经入于头络，故用此数味以散邪去火。又加半夏去
痰，甘草和中，相济而有成也。
张公曰∶头痛余传一方∶用川芎一两，蔓荆子二钱。水煎服，立愈。（〔批〕芎荆散）。盖
川芎补血，蔓荆子去风也。
天师曰∶目痛者，肝经之病，宜治肝矣，而余偏不治肝。方用黄连一钱，花椒七粒，明
矾三分，荆芥五分，生姜一片，水煎半碗。乘热洗之，一日洗七次，明日即愈。（〔批〕洗目
神散。）此治火眼之如此，若虚火之眼，又不如是。用人乳半钟，生地二钱，葳蕤仁五分，去
壳，取一分研碎，明矾半分，水半钟，同人乳煎药。取汁少许，洗七次，明日即愈。虚火之眼，红而不痛
不涩，无泪无眵是也。有火者，红肿如含桃，泪出不止，酸痛羞明，多眵是也。
雷公曰∶余亦有治眼痛方。用柴胡、防风各二分，黄连三分，花椒二粒，明矾一分，水半钟，饭锅
蒸，洗眼如神。一日洗三次，二日即止痛。
张公曰∶目痛余亦有一方最妙。以人乳一合，黄连三分，大枣一个，明矾三分，人参三分，水半钟，
同煎二沸，即取起洗眼。无论虚眼实眼，奇妙。每日洗七次，三日即全愈。
天师曰∶耳聋者，肾经病也。论理该用六味地黄丸，内加柴胡五钱，甘菊二两，当归三两，枸杞三两，
麦冬三两，北五味三钱，白芍二两，今不用此。鼠胆一枚，龙齿一分，冰片一分，麝香一分，朱砂一分，
乳香半分，潮脑半分，各研为绝细末。以人乳为丸，如桐子大，外用丝绵裹之，不可太大，（〔批〕通耳神
丹。）塞入耳之深处，至不可受而止。塞三日取出，即耳聪，永不再聋，不必三丸。但鼠胆最难得。觅一大
鼠，先以竹笼养之，后以纸为匣子，引其藏身，内用果品，令其自食，久之，忽然用棒槌击死，立时取
胆，则胆在肝中也，否则再不可得。干者可用，只消用水调化，俱入药末中，则一样也。实耳聋者，亦用
此方，神妙。
鼻肿者，乃肺经火盛也，宜用甘桔汤则效。今不用，方用皂角末吹入，打清嚏数十即愈。盖鼻因
气壅，今打嚏则壅塞之气尽开散，故不必清肺，而鼻肿自消也。
口舌生疮者，乃心经热也，宜用黄连、黄芩之类，凉散之自愈。今不用，用黄柏一钱，姜蚕一钱，
枳壳烧灰五分，炙甘草末五分、薄荷末五分，冰片三厘，山豆根五分，各为末绝细。渗上，一日渗三
次。第一日即少快，明日全愈，神方也。以上皆上治之法也。
天师曰∶眉落方∶用桑叶七片，每日洗之，一月重生如旧；须落亦然。须自当留一方，以救天下白
须老子。须白乃
肾水枯，任督血干也，二者得一，皆能白须。地黄汤最妙，余不用。用桑椹半斤，取汁一碗，以骨碎
补一两，为末浸之。晒干，无日则用火焙干，再浸，以汁干为度；再用何首乌，生者为末二两，用赤不
用白，熟地焙干为末二两，青盐一两，没石子雌雄各四对，长者雄，园者雌，当归一两，各为细末。
每日擦牙者七七，擦左右各如数，一月之间，即黑如漆。（〔批〕骨碎补即破故纸）。盖桑椹专能补
阴黑须，而又佐之熟地、首乌，岂有不黑之理，但苦不能引入须根耳。今妙在用骨碎骨、没石，直透齿
肉之内，既入齿肉，有不引须根者乎，此方之所以巧而奇也。倘更用乌须补肾，以通任督，则上下相
资，吾见长生不老，未必非此老人，况仅仅髭髯有不重臻于年少之时乎，今并传之。桑椹一斤，蒸熟晒
干，不蒸则此物最不肯干，但不可经铁器，饭锅蒸则无害。大约熟地一经饭锅。虽铁器无碍。生赤何首
乌一斤，切片，饭锅蒸熟晒干九次为妙，南烛叶一斤，亦饭锅蒸熟晒干，若不蒸，自干则无用，熟地一
斤，麦冬半斤，花椒去壳皮二两，以四两取米二两，白果一两，白术一斤。（〔批〕乌须至补丹。
又方∶名黑鬓仙丹，熟地一斤，万年青三片，小用五片，桑椹一斤，黑芝麻八两，山药二斤，南烛皮
四两，花椒一两，白果一两，巨胜子三两，连壳，用蜜为丸，早晚酒送下各五钱。忌萝卜而已。绝妙神
方也。张公传，熟地一斤，薏仁，山茱、桑叶各八两，白术、生赤何首乌各三两，巨胜子、白果各三
两。黑芝
麻四两，北五味二两，山药一斤，花椒一两，乌头皮四两，胡桃肉三两，加参片三两，无亦可，蜜为
丸，服五钱。一方岐公传旱莲可加三两。）此方不刊，即名为陈氏乌须丸，久服长生不老。春夏服地
黄丸，秋冬服此丸，保汝升跻有路，斑白无踪。无桑椹时，可以桑叶代之须用一斤。虽椹胜于叶，而叶
之功亦不亚椹也。
张公曰∶乌须方，此方最妙。其余秦真人万年青方亦当附入。唇口生疮，可将口疮方同治。
华君曰∶传余无白须重乌方。然余传方中，尚有喉间瘰串之方，今传之。方用白芍一两，柴胡五
钱，香附一两，白术五钱，金银花三两，瓦草一钱，瓦葱亦可，青苔一钱；干者止可用三分，人参五钱，
白芥子二钱，各为末。人有病瘰串者，用米醋调，掺痰核之上。如已破者，不可用醋调，用麻油调之，内
服方用柴胡五分，白芍五钱，当归五钱，半夏一钱，白芥子三钱，甘草一钱，桔梗三钱，水煎服。用前药
外治，以此汤内治，尤易见功。（〔批〕消串神丹。天师曰∶前方尚须加白矾三钱，麝香三分。）不服此
方，亦未尝不愈，但迟日月耳。
天师曰∶眼目星久不能去，止可去临时者，方用白蒺藜三钱，水煎洗之，三日即无星，尤妙。
瘰串乃鼠食之物，人不知食之，多生此病。然亦有郁气者，乃易成而不愈也。方用白芍三两，白芥子
三两，紫背天葵三两，香附三两，茯苓三两，当归三两，人参五钱，蒲公英一两，柴胡五钱，白术五两，
砂仁二钱，各为末，米饭为丸，如细米一半大。每日白滚水送下三钱，日三服，一月即
消，二月全愈。（〔批〕化串汤。化瘰仙丹。）
跌损唇皮之类，以桑白皮作线缝之，以生肌散渗之自合。
雷公曰∶予有乌须二方。一丸方∶用熟地二斤，白术一斤，麦冬一斤，山茱萸半斤，黑芝麻半斤，
山药二斤，桑叶一斤，巴戟四两，白果四两，为末，蜜为丸。每日早晚各服五钱。万年青六片，加入尤
妙。一煎方∶熟地一两，生何首乌赤者一两，桑叶一两，白果二钱，黑芝麻五钱炒研碎，山药一两，万年
青半片，人参三钱，花椒一钱，水煎，加酒一茶钟，再加桔梗五分。早服头煎，晚服二煎，夜服三煎，
四剂即黑如漆。二方同用，永不再白。（〔批〕方名还童丹。）倘气血虚者，用服十剂必效。
孙真君曰∶耳聋用珍珠一粒，外用龙骨末一分，以蜜调之，丸在珠上，外又用丹砂为衣。绵裹塞耳
中即愈，神方也。一月后取出，再用六味地黄丸一料，不再聋。
又曰∶乌须方，莫妙用干桑椹一斤，饭锅蒸熟晒干，生何首乌一斤，为丸。二味朝夕吞服，自然乌
黑矣。盖二味原是乌须之圣药，能日日服之，延年返老，岂特须发之黑哉。或少加白果尤妙，不必加熟地，
药愈多，其功转不大效。用生何首乌者，以滋味不外泄也，连皮用之，正取其皮引入人之皮毛耳。每日
服五钱，或一两俱可。无椹用桑叶二斤，首乌一斤可也。（妙极。）
【上治法】论头痛、目痛、耳聋、口舌生疮、鼻肿、眉毛脱落、须发变黑、瘰疬（颈部淋巴结结核）、眼睛生星翳
天师说：所谓“上治”，是指治疗上焦的病症。比如头痛、目痛、耳聋、口舌生疮、鼻子肿胀等。头痛是因为风邪侵入太阳经，使用川芎一钱，细辛一钱，白芷一钱，柴胡一钱，芍药三钱，半夏一钱，甘草一钱来治疗。因为风邪虽然侵犯太阳经，但治疗方法不能只针对太阳经，应当在上部清除邪气，所以用白芷、川芎、细辛这三味药来发散邪气。又用赤芍、甘草、柴胡，来清泻肝胆之火，胆经和肝经上行入于头部络脉，所以用这几味药来散邪去火。再加上半夏以祛除痰湿，甘草以调和脾胃，相互辅助而奏效。
张公说：我传授一个治疗头痛的方子：用川芎一两，蔓荆子二钱。水煎服，立刻痊愈。（批注：芎荆散）。这是因为川芎能补血，蔓荆子能祛风。
天师说：目痛是肝经的疾病，按理应该治肝，但我偏偏不直接治肝。方子用黄连一钱，花椒七粒，明矾三分，荆芥五分，生姜一片，水煎半碗。趁热清洗眼睛，一天洗七次，第二天即痊愈。（批注：洗目神散）。这是治疗实火眼病的方法，如果是虚火引起的眼病，就不这样用了。用人乳半钟，生地二钱，葳蕤仁（玉竹）五分，去掉壳，取一分研碎，明矾半分，水半钟，与人乳一起煎药。取少许药汁，洗眼七次，第二天即痊愈。虚火之眼，表现为红但不痛不涩，无泪无眼屎。有实火者，红肿如含桃，流泪不止，酸痛怕光，眼屎多。
雷公说：我也有治疗眼痛的方子。用柴胡、防风各二分，黄连三分，花椒二粒，明矾一分，水半钟，在饭锅上蒸熟，洗眼如神。一天洗三次，两天即止痛。
张公说：治疗目痛我也有一方最妙。用人乳一合，黄连三分，大枣一个，明矾三分，人参三分，水半钟，同煎两沸，立即取出洗眼。无论是虚眼还是实眼，都很奇妙。每天洗七次，三天即全愈。
天师说：耳聋是肾经的疾病。按理该用六味地黄丸，里面加入柴胡五钱，甘菊二两，当归三两，枸杞三两，麦冬三两，北五味子三钱，白芍二两，现在不用这个方子。用鼠胆一枚，龙齿一分，冰片一分，麝香一分，朱砂一分，乳香半分，潮脑（樟脑）半分，各研成极细末。用人乳做丸，如梧桐子大，外用丝绵包裹，不可太大，（批注：通耳神丹），塞入耳朵深处，直到无法忍受为止。塞三天后取出，耳朵就聪明了，永远不再聋，不需要吃三丸。只是鼠胆最难得到。找一只大老鼠，先用竹笼养它，然后用纸做成匣子，引诱它藏身，里面放果品，让它自己吃，久了之后，突然用棒槌击死，立即取胆，那么胆就在肝脏中，否则再也得不到了。干鼠胆可以用，只需用水调化，都混入药末中，效果一样。实性耳聋也适用此方，神妙。
鼻子肿胀，是肺经火盛所致，宜用甘桔汤则有效。现在不用，方子用皂角末吹入鼻孔，打出几十个清喷嚏即痊愈。因为鼻子肿胀是因为气机壅滞，现在打嚏则壅塞之气全部开散，所以不必清肺，而鼻子肿胀自然消除。
口舌生疮，是心经有热，宜用黄连、黄芩之类，凉散之自愈。现在不用，用黄柏一钱，姜蚕（僵蚕）一钱，枳壳烧灰五分，炙甘草末五分、薄荷末五分，冰片三厘，山豆根五分，各研成极细末。撒在上面，一天撒三次。第一天即稍感舒适，明天全愈，是神方。以上都是上治的方法。
天师说：眉毛脱落的方子：用桑叶七片，每天清洗，一个月重新长出像以前一样；胡须脱落也是如此。胡须变白应当留一方，以拯救天下白发老人。胡须变白是肾水枯竭，任脉督脉血干涸，两者具备其一，都能导致须发变白。地黄汤最妙，我不采用。用桑椹半斤，取汁一碗，以骨碎补一两，研为末浸泡。晒干，没有太阳就用火焙干，再浸泡，以汁液干为度；再用何首乌，生者为末二两，用赤色的不用白色的，熟地焙干为末二两，青盐一两，没石子雌雄各四对，长的是雄，圆的是雌，当归一两，各为细末。每天擦牙七七四十九下，左右各如此次数，一个月之间，即黑如漆。（批注：骨碎补即破故纸）。因为桑椹专门能补阴黑须，而又佐以熟地、首乌，岂有不黑的道理，只是苦于不能引入须根罢了。现在妙在用骨碎补、没石子，直透牙齿肌肉之内，既然进入齿肉，哪有不能引至须根的呢，这就是此方巧妙奇特的原因。如果再用乌须补肾，以通任督二脉，则上下相互资助，我看见长生不老，未必不是这位老人，何况仅仅是胡须眉毛不能重新回到年少时的状态呢，现在一并传之。桑椹一斤，蒸熟晒干，不蒸的话此物最不容易干，但不可经过铁器，用饭锅蒸则无害。大约熟地一经饭锅蒸，虽经铁器也无碍。生赤何首乌一斤，切片，用饭锅蒸熟晒干九次为妙，南烛叶一斤，也用饭锅蒸熟晒干，如果不蒸，自然干燥则无用，熟地一斤，麦冬半斤，花椒去壳皮二两，以四两花椒取米二两，白果一两，白术一斤。（批注：乌须至补丹。又方：名黑鬓仙丹，熟地一斤，万年青三片，小用五片，桑椹一斤，黑芝麻八两，山药二斤，南烛皮四两，花椒一两，白果一两，巨胜子（黑芝麻）三两，连壳，用蜜为丸，早晚酒送下各五钱。忌萝卜而已。绝妙神方也。张公传：熟地一斤，薏仁，山茱萸、桑叶各八两，白术、生赤何首乌各三两，巨胜子、白果各三两。黑芝麻四两，北五味子二两，山药一斤，花椒一两，乌头皮四两，胡桃肉三两，加参片三两，不加也可以，蜜为丸，服五钱。一方岐公传旱莲草可加三两。）此方不刊印，即名为陈氏乌须丸，久服长生不老。春夏服地黄丸，秋冬服此丸，保你升跻有路，斑白无踪。没有桑椹时，可以用桑叶代替须用一斤。虽然桑椹胜于桑叶，但桑叶的功效也不亚于桑椹。

华君说：我传授没有让白须重新变黑的方子。然而我传的方中，还有喉间瘰疬的方子，现在传之。方子用白芍一两，柴胡五钱，香附一两，白术五钱，金银花三两，瓦草一钱，瓦葱也可以，青苔一钱；干的只用三分，人参五钱，白芥子二钱，各为末。人有患瘰疬的，用米醋调，掺在痰核之上。如果已经破溃的，不可用醋调，用麻油调之，内服方用柴胡五分，白芍五钱，当归五钱，半夏一钱，白芥子三钱，甘草一钱，桔梗三钱，水煎服。用前药外治，以此汤内治，尤其容易见效。（批注：消串神丹。天师曰：前方尚须加白矾三钱，麝香三分。）不服此方，也未尝不愈，只是拖延时日罢了。
天师说：眼睛生星翳长久不能去除，只能去除临时的，方子用白蒺藜三钱，水煎洗之，三天即无星翳，尤其奇妙。
瘰疬是老鼠吃的东西，人不知吃了会得此病。但也有因郁气导致的，容易形成且难以痊愈。方子用白芍三两，白芥子三两，紫背天葵三两，香附三两，茯苓三两，当归三两，人参五钱，蒲公英一两，柴胡五钱，白术五两，砂仁二钱，各为末，米饭为丸，如细米粒一半大。每日白开水送下三钱，日服三次，一个月即消，两个月全愈。（批注：化串汤。化瘰仙丹。）

[Upper Treatment Methods] On Headache, Eye Pain, Deafness, Mouth and Tongue Ulcers, Nasal Swelling, Eyebrow Loss, Blackening of Beard, Scrofula (Cervical Lymph Node Tuberculosis), and Eye Nebulae
The Heavenly Master said: The so-called "Upper Treatment" refers to treating diseases of the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner). For example, headache, eye pain, deafness, mouth and tongue ulcers, nasal swelling, etc. Headache is caused by wind pathogen invading the Taiyang Meridian (Taiyang Channel Disease). Use Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) 1 qian, Asarum Root (Xixin) 1 qian, Angelica Dahurica Root (Baizhi) 1 qian, Bupleurum Root (Chaihu) 1 qian, Peony Root (Shaoyao) 3 qian, Pinellia Tuber (Banxia) 1 qian, Licorice Root (Gancao) 1 qian for treatment. Although the wind pathogen invades the Taiyang Meridian, the treatment method should not focus solely on the Taiyang Meridian; one must clear the pathogen from the upper part. Therefore, Baizhi, Chuanxiong, and Xixin are used to disperse the pathogen. Additionally, Red Peony Root (Chishao), Gancao, and Chaihu are used to clear fire from the Liver and Gallbladder meridians, as the Gallbladder and Liver meridians ascend to enter the head collaterals. Thus, these herbs are used to disperse pathogenic factors and eliminate fire. Banxia is added to remove phlegm, and Gancao harmonizes the Middle Jiao (Middle Burner); they assist each other to achieve efficacy.
Master Zhang said: I transmit a formula for treating headache: Use Ligusticum Wallichii Rhizome (Chuanxiong) 1 liang, Vitex Fruit (Manjingzi) 2 qian. Decoct in water and take orally; it will heal immediately. (Annotation: Xiongjing San). This is because Chuanxiong nourishes blood, and Manjingzi dispels wind.
The Heavenly Master said: Eye pain is a disease of the Liver Meridian; theoretically, it should be treated by addressing the Liver, but I deliberately do not treat the Liver directly. The formula uses Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian) 1 qian, Sichuan Pepper Pericarp (Huajiao) 7 grains, Alum (Mingfan) 3 fen, Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjie) 5 fen, Fresh Ginger Slice (Shengjiang) 1 slice. Decoct in water until half a bowl remains. Wash the eyes while hot, seven times a day; it will heal the next day. (Annotation: Ximu Shensan). This treats eye conditions caused by Excess Fire. If the eye condition is caused by Deficient Fire, this method is not suitable. Use Human Milk (Renru) half zhong, Rehmannia Root (Shengdi) 2 qian, Polygonatum Rhizome (Weirui Ren/Yuzhu) 5 fen (remove shell, use 1 fen), Alum (Mingfan) 0.5 fen, Water half zhong. Decoct together with human milk. Take a small amount of the juice to wash the eyes seven times; it will heal the next day. Deficient Fire eyes appear red but without pain or astringency, with no tears or eye discharge. Eyes with Excess Fire appear red and swollen like a peach pit, with continuous tearing, soreness, photophobia, and excessive discharge.
Lei Gong said: I also have a formula for treating eye pain. Use Bupleurum Root (Chaihu) and Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng) 2 fen each, Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian) 3 fen, Sichuan Pepper Pericarp (Huajiao) 2 grains, Alum (Mingfan) 1 fen. Decoct in half a zhong of water over a rice cooker steam. Washing the eyes with this is miraculous. Wash three times a day; pain will cease in two days.
Master Zhang said: I also have an excellent formula for eye pain. Use Human Milk (Renru) 1 he, Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian) 3 fen, Jujube Date (Dazao) 1 piece, Alum (Mingfan) 3 fen, Ginseng Root (Renshen) 3 fen. Decoct in half a zhong of water until it boils twice. Immediately remove and use to wash the eyes. It is wonderful for both Deficient and Excess eye conditions. Wash seven times daily; full recovery in three days.
The Heavenly Master said: Deafness is a disease of the Kidney Meridian. Theoretically, Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) should be used, adding Bupleurum Root (Chaihu) 5 qian, Chrysanthemum Flower (Ganju) 2 liang, Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui) 3 liang, Lycium Fruit (Gouqi) 3 liang, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 3 liang, Schisandra Berry (Bei Wuweizi) 3 qian, and White Peony Root (Baishao) 2 liang. However, I do not use this prescription now. Instead, use one Rat Gallbladder (Shudan), Dragon Tooth (Longchi) 1 fen, Borneol (Bingpian) 1 fen, Musk (Shexiang) 1 fen, Cinnabar (Zhusha) 1 fen, Frankincense (Ruxiang) 0.5 fen, and Camphor (Chaonao) 0.5 fen. Grind each into extremely fine powder. Form pills using Human Milk (Renru), sized like Toona seeds. Wrap externally with silk floss, ensuring they are not too large. (Annotation: Tong'er Shendan). Insert deeply into the ear canal until discomfort is unbearable. Leave for three days, then remove; hearing will become acute, and deafness will never return. Only one pill is needed, not three. However, Rat Gallbladder is hardest to obtain. Find a large rat, raise it in a bamboo cage first, then lure it into a paper box with fruit inside for self-feeding. After some time, suddenly kill it with a club and immediately extract the gallbladder, which will be located within the liver; otherwise, it cannot be obtained. Dried gallbladder can be used; simply dissolve it in water and mix into the powder; the effect is the same. This formula is also effective for Excess-type deafness, working miraculously.
Nasal swelling is due to excessive fire in the Lung Meridian. Ganyin Decoction (Ganjie Tang) would be effective. Now, I do not use it. Instead, blow Soap Pod Powder (Zaojiao Mo) into the nostrils; inducing dozens of sneezes will cure it. Nasal swelling is caused by qi stagnation; sneezing disperses the stagnant qi, so clearing the Lung is unnecessary, and the swelling will subside naturally.

Instead, use Phellodendron Bark (Huangbai) 1 qian, Stiff Silkworm (Jiangcan) 1 qian, Aurantium Fruit Ash (Zhiqiao Shaohui) 5 fen, Roasted Licorice Powder (Zhigancao Mo) 5 fen, Mint Leaf (Bohe Mo) 5 fen, Borneol (Bingpian) 3 li, and Kudzu Root (Shandougeng) 5 fen. Grind all into extremely fine powder. Apply topically, three times a day. Slight relief on the first day, full recovery the next day. This is a miraculous formula. The Heavenly Master said: Formula for eyebrow loss: Use Mulberry Leaf (Sangye) 7 leaves. Wash daily; eyebrows will regrow like before within one month. The same applies to beard loss. Regarding white beard, I preserve a formula to save white-bearded elders worldwide. White beard results from depletion of Kidney Water and dryness of Blood in the Ren and Du meridians. Either condition alone can cause whitening. Dihuang Tang is excellent, but I do not use it. Use Mulberry Fruit (Sangshen) half jin, extract one bowl of juice. Soak Rhizoma Drynariae (Gusuibu) 1 liang ground into powder in the juice. Sun-dry, or bake if no sun, then soak again, repeating until the juice is absorbed. Then use Raw Polygonum Multiflorum Root (Heshouwu) 2 liang ground into powder (use red variety, not white), Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 2 liang baked and ground, Green Salt (Qingyan) 1 liang, and Lithomargite (Meishi) four pairs of male and female (long ones are male, round ones are female), Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui) 1 liang. Grind all into fine powder. Rub teeth seventy-seven times daily, applying to both sides equally. Within a month, the beard will turn black as lacquer. (Annotation: Gusuibu is also known as Pogu Zhi). Sangshen specifically nourishes Yin and blacks the beard; assisted by Shudi and Heshouwu, blackening is inevitable. However, it is difficult to guide the medicine to the beard root. The ingenuity here lies in using Gusuibu and Meishi, which penetrate deeply into the gum tissue. Once in the gums, how could it fail to reach the beard roots? This explains the cleverness and uniqueness of this formula. If combined with kidney-tonifying and meridian-unblocking herbs for blackening the beard, the upper and lower aspects will support each other. Form pills with honey. Take 5 qian morning and evening with wine. Avoid radish. An exquisite miraculous formula. Transmitted by Master Zhang: Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 1 jin, Coix Seed (Yiren), Cornus Fruit (Shanzhuyu), Mulberry Leaf (Sangye) 8 liang each, Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu), Raw Red Polygonum Multiflorum Root (Sheng Chi Heshouwu) 3 liang each, Sesamum Indicum Seed (Jushengzi), Myristica Seed (Baiguo) 3 liang each. Black Sesame Seed (Hei Zhima) 4 liang, Schisandra Berry (Bei Wuweizi) 2 liang, Chinese Yam (Shanyao) 1 jin, Sichuan Pepper Pericarp (Huajiao) 1 liang, Black Chicken Skin (Wutoupí) 4 liang, Walnut Kernel (Hutaorou) 3 liang, Ginseng Slice (Shenpian) 3 liang (optional). Form pills with honey. Take 5 qian. Another formula transmitted by Duke Qi adds Eclipta Herb (Hanliancao) 3 liang.) This formula is not printed, named Chen's Wuxu Wan. Long-term use ensures immortality. Take Liuwei Dihuang Wan in Spring and Summer, this pill in Autumn and Winter. You will have a path to elevation, with no trace of graying. If Sangshen is unavailable, substitute with Sangye 1 jin. Although Sangshen is superior to Sangye, Sangye's efficacy is comparable.
Master Zhang said: For blackening the beard, this formula is best. Also include the Wannianqing formula from Daoist Qin. For lip and mouth ulcers, treat simultaneously with the mouth ulcer formula.
Lord Hua said: I transmit no formula to re-blacken white beards. However, among my formulas, there is one for throat scrofula. Use White Peony Root (Baishao) 1 liang, Bupleurum Root (Chaihu) 5 qian, Cyperus Rhizome (Xiangfu) 1 liang, Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu) 5 qian, Lonicera Flower (Jinyinhua) 3 liang, Plantago Herb (Wacao) 1 qian, Allium Macrostemon Bulb (Wacon) is also acceptable, Green Moss (Qingtai) 1 qian (dried only 3 fen), Ginseng Root (Renshen) 5 qian, White Mustard Seed (Baijiezi) 2 qian. Grind all into powder. For patients with scrofula, mix with rice vinegar and apply to the lymph node masses. If already ulcerated, do not use vinegar; use sesame oil instead. Internal formula: Bupleurum Root (Chaihu) 5 fen, White Peony Root (Baishao) 5 qian, Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui) 5 qian, Pinellia Tuber (Banxia) 1 qian, White Mustard Seed (Baijiezi) 3 qian, Licorice Root (Gancao) 1 qian, Platycodon Root (Jiegeng) 3 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. Using the previous formula externally and this decoction internally yields especially rapid results. (Annotation: Xiaochuan Shendan. Heavenly Master says: Add Alum (Baifan) 3 qian and Musk (Shexiang) 3 fen to the previous external formula.) Even without this formula, healing may occur, but it will take longer.
The Heavenly Master said: Eye nebulae that persist long-term cannot be removed, only temporary ones. Use Tribulus Fruit (Bajili) 3 qian, decoct in water to wash the eyes. Nebulae will disappear in three days, which is particularly wonderful.
Scrofula is caused by consuming food eaten by rats, though people are unaware. It can also result from Qi stagnation, making it prone to formation and difficult to cure. Use White Peony Root (Baishao) 3 liang, White Mustard Seed (Baijiezi) 3 liang, Basella Vulgaris Herb (Zibeitiankui) 3 liang, Cyperus Rhizome (Xiangfu) 3 liang, Poria Sclerotium (Fuling) 3 liang, Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui) 3 liang, Ginseng Root (Renshen) 5 qian, Dandelion Herb (Pugongying) 1 liang, Bupleurum Root (Chaihu) 5 qian, Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu) 5 liang, Amomum Fruit (Sharen) 2 qian. Grind all into powder. Form pills with rice paste, size of half a fine rice grain. Take 3 qian with plain boiled water daily, three times a day. Masses will resolve in one month, full recovery in two months. (Annotation: Huachuan Tang. Hualuo Xiandan.)

One decoction formula: Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 1 liang, Raw Red Polygonum Multiflorum Root (Sheng Heshouwu Chi) 1 liang, Mulberry Leaf (Sangye) 1 liang, Myristica Seed (Baiguo) 2 qian, Black Sesame Seed (Hei Zhima) 5 qian (fried and crushed), Chinese Yam (Shanyao) 1 liang, Asparagus Fern Stem (Wannianqing) half piece, Ginseng Root (Renshen) 3 qian, Sichuan Pepper Pericarp (Huajiao) 1 qian. Decoct in water, add one tea cup of wine, then add Platycodon Root (Jiegeng) 5 fen. Drink the first decoction in the morning, second in the evening, third at night. Four doses will make the beard black as lacquer. Using both formulas together ensures permanent blackening. (Annotation: Fangming Huantong Dan.) For those with Qi and Blood deficiency, ten doses will surely be effective.
Sun Zhenjun said: For deafness, use one Pearl (Zhenzhu). Externally, mix Dragon Bone Powder (Longgu Mo) 1 fen with honey, coat the pearl, and cover with Cinnabar (Dansha). Wrap in cotton and insert into the ear; it will heal. This is a miraculous formula. Remove after one month, then take one course of Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia); deafness will not return.

Swallow these two ingredients morning and evening; they will naturally turn black. These two are sacred herbs for blackening the beard. Daily consumption extends life and reverses aging, far beyond just blackening hair. Adding a little Myristica Seed (Baiguo) is especially good; Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) is unnecessary. More herbs do not necessarily increase efficacy. Use Raw Polygonum Multiflorum Root because it retains its essence; use with skin to guide the medicine to the body's skin and hair. Take 5 qian or 1 liang daily. If no mulberries, use 2 jin of Mulberry Leaf (Sangye) and 1 jin of Heshouwu. (Extremely wonderful.)
