【三物备急丸】
取巴豆，去除外皮和心，炒制后单独研磨成脂状；大黄、干姜（各一两）。这三味药材必须选用精制新鲜的。先将大黄、干姜捣碎研成粉末，再与巴豆脂混合，共同捣杵一千下，制成蜜丸，用密封容器储存，不要让药气泄漏。主治心腹部各种突然发作的急症，如果是中恶邪或客忤之气导致的心腹胀满、突然疼痛如口噤不能言语、尸厥卒死咳嗽等症状，用温水加少量苦酒（醋）送服，每次服用大豆大小三四丸。如果药咽不下去，托起头部灌服使其咽下，片刻之后应当痊愈。如果还没好，听到腹中有鸣响，就会通过呕吐或腹泻而痊愈。如果是牙关紧闭，也需要掰开牙齿灌入。《千金方》记载司空裴秀将其制成散剂使用也可以，先调和成汁液，然后从齿缝间灌入。
【走马汤】
取巴豆（一百一十粒），与面粉（一斤）同炒，直到巴豆油尽，连同曲一起捣成细末，用醋糊制作成绿豆大小的丸剂。每次用冷水送服一二十丸。主治心腹胀满、宿食不消化、饮食所伤、食欲不振，以及服用其他药物无效的情况。
【神应丸加减法一】
即在神应丸的基础上，加入等分的青黛，白矾加倍，用蒸饼制作成绿豆大小的丸剂，用甘草汤送服两丸。主治喘嗽、上焦有热。
【神应丸加减法二】
即在神应丸的基础上，加入等分的青黛，白矾加倍，用蒸饼制作成绿豆大小的丸剂，用甘草汤送服两丸。主治喘嗽、上焦有热。

【巴豆配伍变方】
使用巴豆，配合代赭石、赤石脂；另一种方法加大黄以治疗热结；另一种方法加附子、乌头以治疗寒结。
【酒积丸】
取巴豆（十五个）、雄黄（皂角子大小，六块）、蝎梢（十五个）、白面（五两），研成粉末，用水泛丸如豌豆大。候稍入麸内炒香，取一粒放入水中，如果药丸浮在水面上，就去掉麸皮不用。每次服用两丸，用温酒送下。另一方无蝎梢，加神曲、葛根、半夏，水泛丸如梧桐子大，炒法同上。主治饮酒过度导致的头晕、恶心、呕吐不止，以及酒积停滞在胃间，遇到饮水就吐，久而久之形成癖积。
【杏仁巴豆汁】
取巴豆（去皮去心，炒制）、杏仁（各两枚），用绵布包裹捶碎，用热水二合浸泡，捻取白色汁液饮用。服药后应当排泄，老人小孩根据体质酌情减量。通治蜚尸、鬼击以及中恶导致的心胸胀满、腹部胀大、大便不通。
[Sanwu Beiji Wan (Three-Ingredient Emergency-Prepared Pill)]
Take Crotonis Fructus (Badou), remove the husk and heart, stir-fry, and grind separately into a paste-like consistency. Take Radix et Rhizoma Rhei (Dahuang) and Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens (Ganjiang) (each 1 liang). These three ingredients must be refined and fresh. First, crush Radix et Rhizoma Rhei and Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens into powder, then mix with the Crotonis Fructus paste, pound together one thousand times, form honey pills, store in a sealed container to prevent loss of medicinal qi. Indications: Various sudden acute diseases of the heart and abdomen; if caused by evil qi invasion or external shock leading to abdominal distension and fullness, sudden pain, lockjaw, corpse rigidity, or sudden cough, administer with warm water mixed with a small amount of vinegar (Kujiu), taking 3-4 pills the size of soybeans. If unable to swallow, support the head and force-feed until swallowed; recovery should occur shortly. If not recovered, hearing bowel sounds indicates vomiting or purging will lead to recovery. In cases of lockjaw, forcibly open the teeth for administration. *Qianjin Fang* records that Pei Xiu, Grand Commandant, used it as a powder; this is also acceptable. First mix into a liquid and administer through the teeth gaps.
[Zouma Tang (Running Horse Decoction/Pill)]
Take Crotonis Fructus (110 grains), stir-fry together with flour (1 jin) until the oil from the Crotonis Fructus is exhausted. Grind together with yeast into a fine powder, bind with vinegar paste into pills the size of mung beans. Administer 10-20 pills with cold water. Indications: Abdominal distension and fullness, retention of undigested food, injury from diet, anorexia, and conditions where other medicines are ineffective.
[Modification of Shenyin Wan I]
Based on Shenyin Wan (Divine Response Pill), add equal parts of Atriplae Mantis Oötheca (Qingdai) and double the amount of Alumen (Baifan). Form pills with steamed wheat bun dough, size of mung beans. Administer 2 pills with Licorice Root Decoction (Gancao Tang). Indications: Asthma and cough, upper jiao heat.
[Modification of Shenyin Wan II]
Based on Shenyin Wan (Divine Response Pill), add equal parts of Atriplae Mantis Oötheca (Qingdai) and double the amount of Alumen (Baifan). [Baodou Combination Variations]
Use Crotonis Fructus (Badou) combined with Fossilized Mass (Daizheshi) and Red Halloysite (Chishizhi); another method adds Radix et Rhizoma Rhei (Dahuang) to treat heat accumulation; another method adds Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata (Fuzi) and Radix Aconiti (Wutou) to treat cold accumulation.
[Jiuji Wan (Alcohol Accumulation Pill)]
Take Crotonis Fructus (15 grains), Realgar (Xionghuang, size of soap bean, 6 pieces), Scorpio (Xieshao, 15 pieces), and white flour (5 liang). Grind into powder, make water pills the size of pea seeds. Stir-fry with bran until fragrant. Test: place one pill in water; if it floats, discard the bran. Administer 2 pills with warm wine. Another formula excludes Scorpio, adding Saccharomyces (Shenqu), Puerariae Radix (Gegen), and Pinelliae Rhizoma (Banxia), making water pills the size of sophora seeds, stir-fried similarly. Indications: Dizziness, nausea, incessant vomiting due to excessive alcohol consumption; alcohol accumulation stagnating in the stomach causing vomiting upon drinking; long-term development of mass disorders (Pi).
[Xingren Baodou Juice]
Take Crotonis Fructus (husked, heart removed, fried) and Semen Armeniacae Amarum (Xingren) (each 2 grains). Wrap in cotton cloth, crush, steep in 2 he of hot water, squeeze out the white juice, and drink. Purging should follow. Adjust dosage for elderly and children. General treatment for Feishi (Flying Corpse), Guiji (Ghost Strike), and sudden evil invasion causing chest/heart fullness, abdominal distension, and constipation.
