The Du Meridian (Governing Vessel) runs along the midline of the back, starting with 28 acupoints beginning at Changqiang (GV1). Next are Yaoshu (GV2), Yangguan (GV3), entering Mingmen (GV4), passing through Xianshu (GV5). Continuing upward are Jizhong (GV6), Zhongshu (GV7), Jinshu (GV8), Zhiyang (GV9), Lingtai (GV10), Shendao (GV11), Shenzhu (GV12), and Daodao (GV13), finally stopping at Dazhui (GV14). After Zhengmen (likely referring to Fengfu area or a textual variant, contextually leading to Fengfu), come Fengfu (GV16) and Naohu (GV17), followed by Qiangjian (GV18), Houding (GV19), Baihui (GV20), and Qianding (GV21). Xinhui (GV22) is located above Shangxing (GV23), and Shenting (GV24) reveals the subtlety of Sulu (DU25). Shuigou (GV26) reaches Duanduan (CV15) without error, and Yinjiao (CV23) resides within the lip to treat diseases.
Yinjiao is located inside the lip near the corner; Duanduan is exactly at the center of the lip tip; Shuigou is in the groove below the nose; Sulu should be examined carefully at the nasal tip. The head shape is higher in the north and lower in the south; first measure the distance between the anterior and posterior hairlines, dividing it into one chi and two cun. Five fen above the hairline is Shenting. One cun above the hairline is Shangxing. Two cun above the hairline is Xinhui. Three and a half cun above the hairline is Qianding. Five cun above the hairline is Baihui (located in the central whorl of hair on the vertex). One and a half cun behind Baihui is Houding. Three cun behind Baihui is Qiangjian. Four and a half cun behind Baihui is Naohu. Entering one cun from the posterior hairline is Fengfu (within the depression of the large tendon when the head is tilted back, connecting to the root of the tongue). From Shenting to here, ten acupoints are accurate. From this point, the spine below the occipital bone is divided into twenty-four vertebrae. However, the three vertebrae of the neck above Dazhui should not be counted, nor should Changqiang at the tailbone end. The middle twenty-one vertebrae can be counted sequentially. The first vertebra is the great vertebra (Dazhui); the second intervertebral space contains Daodao; the third intervertebral space has Shenzhu; do not doubt that the fifth intervertebral space has Shendao; the sixth and seventh are Lingtai and Zhiyang respectively; the ninth intervertebral space is Jinshu; the tenth is Zhongshu; the eleventh is Jizhong; the twelfth is Xianshu; the fourteenth coincides with Shenshu; the sixteenth is Yangguan; the twenty-first is Yaoshu; and Changqiang follows at the end of the sacrococcygeal bone.
