牙齿疼痛，属于阳明胃经的病症。风热之邪上侵人体，导致受邪而引发疼痛，这种疼痛可能伴有热象或寒象，也可能是由虫蚀或湿热引起，这些情况都能导致疼痛。
治疗牙痛的症候，方法很多，如果没有有效的方子该怎么办呢？取蟾酥、麝香、五灵脂各一分，研磨成粉末。制成千金一笑散，取一分药粉，用绢布包裹，用线扎紧。将其咬在患处，并低下头，五种类型的牙痛都能彻底根除。（出自《海上仙方》）
另一种用法：取一只粗碗，底部铺上川椒，上面覆盖樟脑，再倒扣一个碗，用盐泥密封固定，用慢火煨烤一夜。第二天早晨取出研细。
还有一种用法：取一枚五倍子，稍微开一个小孔，用盐填满，在炭火中烧至红透但保留其本性（存性），待稍微散去火气后，研磨成粉末。用手指蘸药粉擦拭牙齿。
漱口以缓解牙痛的方法：将白马尾烧成灰并保留其本性，点上药灰即可止痛脱落病齿。但是不可轻易点涂，恐怕健康的牙齿沾到也会脱落。

Toothache belongs to the Yangming Stomach Meridian. When wind-heat pathogens invade from above, they cause susceptibility and induce pain; this pain may present with heat or cold signs, or be caused by "worms" (parasitic decay) or damp-heat, all of which can produce pain.
There are many methods for treating toothache symptoms, but what if there is no effective formula? Take Chan Su (Toad Venom), She Xiang (Musk), and Wu Ling Zhi (Trogopterus Dung), one fen of each, and grind them into powder. Prepare Qian Jin Yi Xiao San (Thousand Gold Smile Powder), take one fen of the powder, wrap it in silk cloth, and tie it tightly with thread. Bite it on the affected area while keeping your head lowered; this will eradicate five types of toothache at the root. (From *Hai Shang Xian Fang*)
Another method: Take one coarse bowl, spread Chuan Jiao (Sichuan Pepper) at the bottom, cover it with Zhang Nao (Borneol), invert another bowl over it, seal firmly with salt mud, and slow-roast overnight. Grind finely the next morning.
Yet another method: Take one Wu Bei Zi (Galla Chinensis), make a small hole, fill it completely with salt, roast it in charcoal fire until red-hot but preserve its nature (Cun Xing), allow it to cool slightly to dissipate fire toxicity, then grind into powder. Apply to teeth with a finger.
Method for rinsing mouth to relieve toothache: Burn Bai Ma Wei (White Horse Tail hair) to ash and preserve its nature. Applying the ash stops pain and causes the diseased tooth to fall out. However, do not apply lightly, as healthy teeth might also be affected and fall out.

Zou Ma Ya Gan (Rapidly Spreading Gum Ulceration)
Take Wu Bei Zi (Galla Chinensis), Qing Dai (Indigo Naturalis), and Ku Fan (Alum) in equal parts, grind into powder. First rinse the mouth clean with salt water, then sprinkle the powder; immediate effect is observed.
Another method: Take Tong Qing (Chalcanthite), Hua Shi (Talcum), and Xing Ren (Apricot Seed) in equal parts, grind into powder, and rub on the affected area; healing occurs immediately. (Formula of Master Shao)

Take one Sheng Nan Xing (Arisaema Cum Bile/Raw Arisaema), hollow it out, insert a piece of Xiong Huang (Realgar), wrap in dough, and roast. Wait until the Realgar melts into liquid, cover with a cup to remove fire toxicity, remove the dough, grind into powder, add a small amount of She Xiang (Musk), and brush onto the sore several times; very effective.
