Warm the deficiency; for those who are depleted, warm them. The *Jingui Yaolue* (Essential Prescriptions from the Golden Cabinet) states: "In a healthy person, a large pulse indicates labor/deficiency; treat it with Huangqi Jianzhong Tang (Astragalus Decoction to Build the Middle)." A woman suffered from heat and pain in her heels when fatigued; this was due to blood deficiency of the three Yin meridians of the foot (Liver, Spleen, Kidney), and she recovered using Shengyu Tang (Holy Salvation Decoction). Later, she experienced generalized pruritus. After mistakenly taking wind-dispelling herbs, she developed fever and convulsions. Her Liver pulse was surging and rapid. This indicated that Liver blood deficiency with excessive fire generated internal wind. She was treated with pills made of Tianzhu Huang (Calamina) and Danning Xing (Arisaema Cum Bile), taken with a decoction of Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), Maimendong (Ophiopogon Radix), Wuweizi (Schisandra Fructus), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome), Zhigancao (Prepared Licorice Root), Shanzhi (Gardenia Fruit), and Chaihu (Bupleurum Root), and she recovered. Another woman, accustomed to a frugal life and diligent in needlework, contracted wind pathogen. She self-administered diaphoretic agents, which resulted in morning chills and evening fevers, spontaneous sweating, and night sweats. Her physical form and Qi were extremely deficient. Her pulse was sometimes floating and surging, sometimes faint and fine; her complexion was sometimes blue-white, sometimes sallow and flaccid. This indicated that although the pathogen had departed, Qi and Blood became even more deficient. She used Shiquan Dabu Tang (Complete Great Tonifying Decoction) for over thirty doses and gradually improved, then used Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) as an adjunct, recovering after half a year.
