定志丸（见惊悸）
养心汤 治心血虚怯惊痫，或惊悸怔忡，盗汗无寐，发热烦躁。
黄 白茯苓 茯神 半夏曲 当归 川芎 辣桂 柏子仁 酸枣仁 五味子 人参（各三钱）
甘草（炒，四钱）
上，每服一二钱，姜枣水煎。
妙香散 治心气不足，惊痫或精神恍惚、虚烦少寐、盗汗等证。
辰砂（三钱） 麝香（一钱） 木香（煨二钱五分） 茯苓 山药 茯神 远志 黄 （炒。
各一两） 桔梗 甘草 人参（各五钱）
上，各另为末。每服一钱，温酒或白汤调服。
半夏丸（方见惊搐）
星苏散 治诸风口噤不语。
天南星（略炮，锉）
上，每服五七分，姜四片，紫苏五叶，水煎，入雄猪胆少许，温服。
治痫方 治太阳阳明二经为病。
荆芥穗（四两） 白矾（为细末，二两）
上，枣肉为丸，如桐子大。每服二十丸，荆芥汤下，次三十丸，四十丸，又次
五十丸，俱食前。
矾丹
虢丹 晋矾（各一两）
上，用砖凿一窠，可容二两许，先安丹、在下，次安矾在上，以炭五斤
，令炭尽，取出细研。以不经水猪心血、为丸如绿豆大。每服十丸至二十丸，
橘皮汤下。
《元戎》二白丸
白矾（一块，约一两）
上用生蒸饼剂裹，蒸熟去皮，可丸，入轻粉一字或半钱，量虚实加减，丸桐子
大。每服二三十丸，生姜汤下。小儿丸小。
朱砂滚涎散 治小儿五痫。
朱砂 白矾（生用） 赤石脂 硝石（各等分）
上为细末，研蒜膏为丸，如绿豆大。每服三十丸，食后，荆芥汤下。
琥珀寿星丸
天南星（一个，掘坑、用火 烧，坑红，出炭净，入好酒一升在火穴中，放入南星，盖穴，
勿令通气，过一宿取出，焙，末） 琥珀（四两） 朱砂（二两半，为衣）
上以猪心血打干糊、丸如桐子大。每服五十丸，煎人参汤送下。
南星五生丸
南星 半夏 川乌 白附子 大豆（去皮。各一两）
上为细末，滴水为丸。每服二丸至五丸，不过七丸，姜汤下。
断痫丸 治小儿诸痫痰盛。
皂角（盈尺者三挺，去皮，捶碎，水三升浸，收汁滤过，瓷器内熬成膏） 白矾（ 枯，研细，一两半）
蝎稍（炒） 直僵蚕（炒） 雄黄（另研） 朱砂（另研） 白附子（各半两） 麝香（一钱，另研）
乌蛇（酒浸，取肉，焙干，二钱半） 南星（湿纸裹，炮熟，一两） 赤蜈蚣（一条，
酒浸炙，去头足）
上为末，用水煮半夏糊、和前项皂角膏、为丸如梧桐子大。每服三五丸，用生
姜汤磨化，不拘时服。
定痫丸 治小儿五痫。
赤脚蜈蚣（一条，去头足，酒浸，炙） 蝎稍（去毒） 乌蛇肉（酒炙） 白附子（生） 天
南星（末） 丸白半夏（末，用姜汁和一宿。各二钱半） 熊胆 白矾（新瓦上 枯。各一钱二分半）
上为末，稀面糊、为丸如梧桐子大，朱砂为衣。每服二三丸，用薄荷煎汤磨化，
不拘时服。
治小儿惊痫。
胆星（二两） 全蝎（去毒，炒，半两） 白附子 僵蚕（炒） 川芎（各一两） 薄荷（半两）
上为末，粥丸，青黛为衣。每服一二丸，姜汤下。
养心汤：治疗心血虚弱导致的惊痫，或惊悸、怔忡（心中跳动不安），盗汗，失眠，发热烦躁。

用法：以上药材，每次服用一二钱，用生姜和大枣煎水送服。
妙香散：治疗心气不足引起的惊痫，或精神恍惚、虚烦少寐、盗汗等症状。
药材组成：辰砂（三钱）、麝香（一钱）、木香（煨制二钱五分）、茯苓、山药、茯神、远志、黄耆（炒制）、桔梗、甘草、人参（各五钱）。
用法：以上药材分别研为细末。每次服用一钱，用温酒或白开水调服。
半夏丸（方剂见惊搐章节）
星苏散：治疗各种中风引起的口噤不语（牙关紧闭不能说话）。
药材组成：天南星（略加炮制，切碎）。
用法：每次服用五七分，加生姜四片、紫苏叶五片，用水煎煮，加入少许雄猪胆，温服。
治痫方：治疗太阳经和阳明经受邪所致的疾病。
药材组成：荆芥穗（四两）、白矾（研为细末，二两）。
用法：用枣肉制作成丸药，大小如梧桐子。每次服用二十丸，用荆芥汤送服；随后服用三十丸，再服用四十丸，最后服用五十丸，均在饭前服用。
矾丹
药材组成：虢丹、晋矾（各一两）。
用法：用砖头凿一个坑，容量约可容纳二两药材。先将丹放在下面，再将矾放在上面，用五斤炭火煅烧，直到炭烧尽，取出后细细研磨。用未经过水洗的猪心血作为粘合剂，制成如绿豆大小的丸药。每次服用十丸至二十丸，用橘皮汤送服。
《元戎》二白丸
药材组成：白矾（一块，约一两）。
用法：用生蒸饼剂包裹，蒸熟后去皮，待其可塑时，加入轻粉一字或半钱，根据患者虚实情况加减剂量，制成如梧桐子大小的丸药。每次服用二三十丸，用生姜汤送服。小儿用药丸更小。
朱砂滚涎散：治疗小儿五种癫痫。
药材组成：朱砂、白矾（生用）、赤石脂、硝石（各等分）。
用法：以上药材研为细末，加入蒜膏调和制成丸药，大小如绿豆。每次服用三十丸，饭后用荆芥汤送服。
琥珀寿星丸
药材组成：天南星（一个，挖坑用火烧烤，直至坑变红，取出炭灰干净，将一升好酒倒入火坑中，放入南星，覆盖坑口，不让空气进入，过夜后取出，焙干，研末）、琥珀（四两）、朱砂（二两半，作为包衣）。
用法：用猪心血打干制成糊状，制成如梧桐子大小的丸药。每次服用五十丸，用人参煎汤送下。
南星五生丸
药材组成：南星、半夏、川乌、白附子、大豆（去皮，各一两）。
用法：以上药材研为细末，滴水制成丸药。每次服用二丸至五丸，最多不超过七丸，用姜汤送服。
断痫丸：治疗小儿各种癫痫痰盛的情况。
药材组成：皂角（长度盈尺的三挺，去皮，捶碎，用三升水浸泡，收取汁液过滤，在瓷器内熬成膏）、白矾（枯矾，研细，一两半）、蝎稍（炒制）、直僵蚕（炒制）、雄黄（另研）、朱砂（另研）、白附子（各半两）、麝香（一钱，另研）、乌蛇（酒浸，取肉，焙干，二钱半）、南星（湿纸包裹，炮熟，一两）、赤蜈蚣（一条，酒浸炙烤，去头足）。
用法：以上药材研为细末，用水煮半夏制成糊状，与前项皂角膏混合，制成如梧桐子大小的丸药。每次服用三五丸，用生姜汤磨化后服用，不限时间。
定痫丸：治疗小儿五种癫痫。
药材组成：赤脚蜈蚣（一条，去头足，酒浸，炙烤）、蝎稍（去毒）、乌蛇肉（酒炙）、白附子（生用）、天南星（研末）、丸白半夏（研末，用姜汁浸泡一夜，各二钱半）、熊胆、白矾（在新瓦上枯制，各一钱二分半）。
用法：以上药材研为细末，用稀面糊制成如梧桐子大小的丸药，朱砂包衣。每次服用二三丸，用薄荷煎汤磨化后服用，不限时间。
治疗小儿惊痫的方剂：
药材组成：胆星（二两）、全蝎（去毒，炒制，半两）、白附子、僵蚕（炒制）、川芎（各一两）、薄荷（半两）。
用法：以上药材研为细末，用米粥制成丸药，青黛包衣。每次服用一二丸，用姜汤送服。
Dingzhi Wan (See section on Palpitations due to Fright)
Yangxin Tang: Treats fright epilepsy caused by deficiency of Heart Blood, or palpitations, Zhengchong (restless heartbeat), night sweats, insomnia, fever, and irritability.
Ingredients: Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Baifuling (Poria with Hostwood), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Banxiaqu (Fermented Pinellia Paste), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Lagui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Baiziren (Biota Semen), Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (each 3 qian).
Gancao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma) (stir-fried, 4 qian).
Usage: For each dose of one or two qian, decoct with slices of fresh ginger and dates in water.
Miaoxiao San: Treats fright epilepsy due to insufficiency of Heart Qi, or mental confusion, empty vexation, scanty sleep, night sweats, etc.
Ingredients: Chencha (Cinnabar), Shexiang (Moschus), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (baked, 2.5 qian), Fuling (Poria), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix), Huangqi (Astragali Radix) (stir-fried), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Gancao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (each 5 qian).
Usage: Each ingredient is separately ground into powder. Take one qian per dose, mixed with warm wine or plain boiled water.
Banxia Wan (Formula see section on Frightful Convulsions)
Xingsu San: Treats various types of wind-stroke causing lockjaw and inability to speak.
Ingredients: Tian Nanxing (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (slightly processed, chopped).
Usage: Take five or seven fen per dose, with four slices of fresh ginger and five leaves of Zisu (Perillae Folium), decoct in water, add a small amount of pig gallbladder bile, and take warm.
Zhi Xian Fang: Treats diseases affecting the Taiyang (Greater Yang) and Yangming (Bright Yang) meridians.
Ingredients: Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica) (4 liang), Bai Fan (Alumen) (ground into fine powder, 2 liang).
Usage: Form pills using jujube flesh, size of paulownia seeds. Take twenty pills per dose, washed down with Jingjie decoction; subsequently take thirty pills, then forty pills, and finally fifty pills, all taken before meals.
Fan Dan
Ingredients: Guo Dan (Red Lead Oxide), Jin Fan (Alumen) (each 1 liang).
Usage: Dig a pit in a brick, capacity about two liang. Place Dan at the bottom first, then Fan on top. Burn with five jin of charcoal until the charcoal is exhausted. Remove and grind finely. Use pig heart blood that has not been washed with water as a binder to form pills the size of mung beans. Take ten to twenty pills per dose, washed down with Citrus reticulata peel decoction.
"Yuanrong" Erbai Wan
Ingredients: Bai Fan (Alumen) (one piece, approx. 1 liang).
Usage: Wrap in raw steamed dough, steam until cooked, remove skin. When pliable, add Qingfen (Calomel) one zi or half a qian, adjusting dosage according to deficiency or excess. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take twenty to thirty pills per dose, washed down with fresh ginger decoction. Pills for children should be smaller.
Zhusha Gun Xian San: Treats the five types of epilepsy in children.
Ingredients: Zhusha (Cinnabar), Bai Fan (Alumen) (used raw), Chishizhi (Halloysitum Rubrum), Xiaoshi (Natrii Nitratis Crystal) (equal parts).
Usage: Grind all ingredients into fine powder. Mix with garlic paste to form pills the size of mung beans. Take thirty pills per dose after meals, washed down with Jingjie decoction.
Hupo Shouxing Wan
Ingredients: Tian Nanxing (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (one tuber, dig a pit, roast over fire until pit is red, remove clean charcoal, pour one sheng of good wine into the fire pit, place Nanxing inside, cover pit to prevent air entry, leave overnight, remove, dry-roast, and grind), Hupo (Amber), Zhusha (Cinnabar) (2.5 liang, used as coating).
Usage: Use dried pig heart blood to make a paste, form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take fifty pills per dose, washed down with Ginseng decoction.
Nanxing Wusheng Wan
Ingredients: Nanxing (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix), Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma), Doudou (Sojae Semen Preparatum) (skin removed, each 1 liang).
Usage: Grind into fine powder, add drops of water to form pills. Take two to five pills per dose, not exceeding seven pills, washed down with ginger decoction.
Duan Xian Wan: Treats excessive phlegm in various types of epilepsy in children.
Ingredients: Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus) (three pods approx. chi long, remove skin, crush, soak in three sheng of water, collect juice, filter, boil in porcelain vessel into paste), Bai Fan (Alumen) (calcined, finely ground, 1.5 liang), Xie Shao (Scorpion), Zhi Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) (stir-fried), Xionghuang (Realgar) (separately ground), Zhusha (Cinnabar) (separately ground), Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma) (each half liang), Shexiang (Moschus) (1 qian, separately ground), Wushe (Agkistrodon) (soaked in wine, meat taken, dried, 2.5 qian), Nanxing (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (wrapped in wet paper, processed until cooked, 1 liang), Chi Wugong (Scolopendra) (one, soaked in wine, roasted, head and feet removed).
Usage: Grind all into powder. Boil Banxia in water to make a paste, mix with the prepared Zaojiao paste to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take three to five pills per dose, grind in fresh ginger decoction and take at any time.
Ding Xian Wan: Treats the five types of epilepsy in children.
Ingredients: Chijiao Wugong (Scolopendra) (one, remove head and feet, soak in wine, roast), Xie Shao (Scorpion) (remove venom), Wushe Rou (Agkistrodon Meat) (wine-roasted), Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma) (raw), Tian Nanxing (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (ground), Wan Bai Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (ground, soaked in ginger juice overnight, each 2.5 qian), Xiongdan (Ursi Bile), Bai Fan (Alumen) (calcined on new tile, each 1.25 qian).
Usage: Grind into powder, use thin flour paste to form pills the size of paulownia seeds, coat with Cinnabar. Take two or three pills per dose, grind in mint decoction and take at any time.
Formula for treating fright epilepsy in children:
Ingredients: Danning (Arismatis Rhizoma Preparatum) (2 liang), Quanxie (Scorpion) (remove venom, stir-fried, half liang), Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma), Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) (stir-fried), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (each 1 liang), Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba) (half liang).
Usage: Grind into powder, form pills using congee, coat with Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis). Take one or two pills per dose, washed down with ginger decoction.
