Jingquan Stone (Well Spring Stone)
Nature: Greatly cold. Toxicity: Non-toxic. Indications: Mainly treats various heat syndromes; manages eye swelling and pain; resolves heat accumulation in the Heart; eliminates swelling and toxicity; treats pediatric heat-related malnutrition (Re Gan, 热疳), night blindness (Que Mu, 雀目), and blindness due to optic atrophy or similar conditions (Qing Mang, 青盲). When combined with Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), it treats eyelid swelling. When combined with Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen) and Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos), it treats pediatric eye malnutrition with corneal opacity (Yi Mo, 翳膜), with excellent efficacy. It also treats dry cough due to heat. It is found everywhere along nearby roads, with those from Raoyang Jun (Raoyang Commandery) being superior. It grows in the soil of fields and requires digging more than one zhang (approx. 3.3 meters) deep to obtain. Its appearance resembles earth color; shapes vary including round, square, long, short, large, and small. The interior is solid while the exterior consists of overlapping layers. It can be harvested at any time. For use, it must be finely ground into powder; otherwise, it may cause dysuria (Lin Zheng, 淋证). There is another stone resembling Jiangshi (Ginger Stone); people often mistake it for Jingquan Stone, but it is incorrect. (Newly Determined)
Tu Jing (Illustrated Classic) states: Jingquan Stone grows in the spring water of Jujiacun Village, twenty li west of Shenzhou City, at a depth of about one zhang. The stone resembles earth in color; shapes vary including round, square, long, short, large, and small. The interior is solid and the exterior is rounded, forming layered, interlocking structures. Its nature is greatly cold and non-toxic. It resolves heat accumulation in the Heart, eliminates swelling and toxicity, and treats pediatric heat-related malnutrition. It can be harvested at any time regardless of the month.

Based on standard Bencao texts, this description usually belongs to a specific mineral entry. However, strictly translating the provided text:]
Taste: Sweet. Nature: Neutral. Toxicity: Toxic. Indications: Treats alternating chills and fever; directs Qi downward; erodes foul flesh; kills birds and beasts. Origin: West City. Harvest: Any time.
Tao Hongjing said: It is no longer used by common people, and its shape is unrecognized. Tang Ben Cao commentary states: Te Sheng Shi (Special Birth Stone), also known as Cangshi (Green/Gray Stone). Te Sheng Shi from Liangzhou also has青色 (greenish) varieties. Currently, Fangling and Hanchuan have青色 varieties co-occurring with Baishi (White Stone), which can poison birds and beasts, similar to Te Sheng Shi. People in Hanzhong also use it to poison rats, but it is not included in medical formulas. This stone originates from Liangzhou, Junzhou, and Fangzhou, co-occurring with two other stones; Te Sheng Shi and Cangshi both originate from West City, located in Hanchuan Jinzhou.
Tu Jing has detailed records under the entry for [Missing Character, likely 'Shi' or specific mineral name].
Huaru Stone (Flower Nourishing Stone)
Indications: Mainly stops bleeding from metal weapon injuries (Jin Chuang, 金疮); treats postpartum blood syncope and retention of lochia (E Xue, 恶血). Origin: Sha Zhou, Hua Zhou, and other commanderies. Color: True yellow. Shape: Variable size, round or square without fixed form. Preparation for ingestion: Should be calcined over high fire. For stopping bleeding from metal injuries, simply scrape the powder and apply; it heals without suppuration or ulceration. Also known as Huarui Stone. (Newly Determined)
Tu Jing states: Huaru Stone originates from Wenxiang County, Sha Zhou. The body is extremely hard and heavy; the color resembles sulfur. Large blocks exist, which people carve into vessels. Ancient formulas did not record its use. In recent times, it is calcined together with sulfur, ground into powder, and applied to metal injuries, with miraculous efficacy. Additionally, when people are suddenly injured by metal blades and cannot perform calcination, scraping fine powder directly from the stone and applying it is also effective. Harvest: Any time.
Bie Lu says: Tu Jing lists Huarui Stone in the Middle Grade of Jade and Stones, with indications identical to this, indicating they are the same substance.
Yan Yi says: Huaru Stone is yellow like sulfur, recorded in Volume 5 of Ben Jing. It currently originates between Sha Zhou and Hua Zhou; among yellow stones, there are interspersed pale white spots, hence the name "Flower" (Hua). The Huaru Stone San (Powder) used in the Huimin Bureau is made from this substance. People in Shaanxi can also carve it into vessels. In Volume 2 of Tu Jing, it was renamed Huarui Stone, taking its name from its yellow color. The name "Huaru" is absent, and fearing confusion over time, this is recorded.
