Tao Hongjing states: Formulary books no longer use it; common people do not recognize it. The *Tang Bencao* commentary states: Li's *Bencao* says this is the feces of Fuyi (Bat). Since the Fuyi section does not mention using its feces, it is clear that this refers to Bat feces. *Fangyan* calls it Xian Shu (Immortal Mouse); this has already been discussed in the Fuyi section. Current annotations call it one name Ye Ming Sha (Night-Shining Sand).
*Jianyao Jizhong Fang* (Brief Essential Formulas for Saving the Masses) for treating five types of malaria: Ye Ming Sha, pounded into a powder, take one large qian per dose, mixed with cold tea and taken down, recovery is immediate. Family secret formula: For one-year-olds, it primarily treats scars from beating.
Tao Hongjing states: Used alone, Eagle White (Eagle feces) cannot eliminate scars. It should be combined with other drugs such as Jiang Can (Bombyx Batryticatus) and Yi Yu (Stenella) to make a plaster. *Tang Bencao* commentary states: Eagle feces ash, taken with wine in a measure of one cun bi, primarily treats evil alcohol intoxication. Do not let drinkers know. Currently, according to Chen Cangqi's *Bencao*: Eagle meat, when eaten, primarily treats evil spirits and wild fox charms. The beak and claws primarily treat five types of hemorrhoids and fox charms; burn to powder and take. Ministers Yu Xi et al. respectfully note regarding general anti-scar drugs: Eagle White, neutral in nature. *Yaoxing Lun* states: Eagle feces, subordinate herb, slightly cold, slightly toxic. Primarily treats sudden severe illness (Zhong E). Additionally, the head burned to ash, taken with rice drink, treats five types of hemorrhoids. Furthermore, eagle eyes ground with milk, instilled into the eyes three times at night, after three days one can see objects in the blue sky. Avoid smoke fumigation.
*Waitai Miyao* (Secret Essentials of the Outer Palace) treats food impaction. Goose or eagle feces burned to powder, take one cun bi. Tiger, wild wolf, or vulture feces are also acceptable.
*Yanyi* states: Eagle White is used in combination with other drugs to act as a medicine for dissipating deficiency and accumulating masses. To treat infant milk accumulation and jaundice: Eagle feces white 1 qian, Mi Tuo Seng (Alumen) 1 liang, Bo Shang Liu Huang (Imported Sulfur) 1 fen, Ding Xiang (Caryophylli Flos) 21 pieces. Above ingredients powdered together, take one zi per dose. For children over three years old, take half a qian, mixed with milk or white flour soup and taken down; it does not cause diarrhea. After one shi (two hours), green-black matter is discharged, then take tonic medicine: Vinegar-treated Pomegranate Peel 0.5 liang, roasted until black, Yi Fang Qi (likely a specific mineral or processed drug) 1 fen, Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix) 1 fen, She Xiang (Moschus) 0.5 qian, all powdered together. Take one zi per dose, mixed with warm thin wine, take two doses total. Whenever there is hardness under the ribs of a child as if there were an object, this is Pi Qi (accumulation gas), commonly called Nai Pi (Milk Spleen). Only take Wen Pi Hua Ji Qi Wan (Warm Spleen and Resolve Accumulation Gas Pill); do not extract too much substance, and recovery will surely occur. Extracting too much is improper.
