After childbirth, labor injuries cause the blood and qi to become extremely deficient. Wind-cold pathogens take advantage of this deficiency, entering the intestines and stomach. The intestines and stomach are weak and suddenly exposed to cold; intestinal deficiency leads to diarrhea. Encountering extreme cold and deficiency, it transforms into *dongli* (profuse watery diarrhea).
Postpartum deficiency allows cold or heat pathogens to lodge between the intestines. Heat attacks the blood, causing blood to seep into the intestines, resulting in red stool; cold combats within the intestines, transforming fluids into white discharge. As cold and heat interact, red and white substances mix, lingering continuously without stopping, thus termed *zhili* (dysentery with tenesmus).
Postpartum organ deficiency allows cold or heat pathogens to enter the intestines and stomach. Intestinal deficiency leads to diarrhea, forming cold-heat dysentery. Stool that is green or white indicates cold; yellow or red indicates heat. If diarrhea persists, severe heat generates pus and blood, while extreme cold produces white pus. Mixed pus and blood, with disharmony of cold and heat, transform into *zhili* (dysentery).
Postpartum organ deficiency allows heat pathogens to invade. Heat enters the intestines, intestinal deficiency leads to diarrhea, constituting exogenous heat dysentery, characterized by yellow stool. Severe heat results in yellow-red stool with blood.
Red dysentery is bloody dysentery. Due to postpartum blood deficiency, heat pathogens invade. Heat combats the blood, causing it to seep into the intestines; intestinal deficiency leads to discharge, forming bloody dysentery. All bloody dysentery involves excessive heat. Unrestrained hot blood accumulates and stagnates, forming pus and bloody dysentery.
Vaginal prolapse during childbirth occurs because of pre-existing deficiency and cold. Excessive exertion during delivery causes qi to rush downward, leading to the prolapse of the yin.
Congenital weakness of organ qi, combined with wind pathogens invading the yin during childbirth, causes the pathogen to combat with blood and qi, lodging in the interstices (*coulí*), causing pain. Blood and qi are obstructed and stagnant by the pathogen, causing swelling.
Congenital weakness of the uterus, combined with cold pathogens invading during childbirth, prevents blood and qi from nourishing each other due to cold, causing the cervix/uterine opening to open and relax.
Exertion during childbirth damages the Bladder, allowing cold pathogens to enter the uterine sac. Defects or leaks in the uterine sac result in an inability to control urination, causing enuresis. This is often caused by difficult labor.
Postpartum deficiency allows heat pathogens to lodge within the uterus. Deficiency causes frequent urination, while heat reduces urine volume, forming strangury (*lin*).
*Keli* (thirst with polyuria) refers to thirst accompanied by excessive drinking, followed immediately by urination. The Bladder and Kidney are exterior-interior pairs; the Bladder is the mansion of body fluids. Women's Kidneys connect to the uterus. During childbirth, blood and fluids descend together, damaging the qi of the Kidney and Bladder. Fluids become depleted and dry, causing thirst. Kidney qi connects downward to the yin organs. Kidney deficiency fails to control water, causing frequent urination, which constitutes *keli*.
