Dou Wang (female) Pain caused by Liver Qi stagnation, wiry pulse, amenorrhea, coughing up phlegm with blood streaks, consumptive weakness has already formed; this is not a trivial condition. (June 9th)
*Radix Asteris Tatarici* (1.5 qian) *Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride* (1.5 qian) *Zuojin Wan* (8 fen) *Quartzum Album* (3 qian) *Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (3 qian) *Rhizoma Belamcandae* (3 qian) *Lignum Dalbergiae Odoriferae* (0.7 fen) *Flos Prunus Mume* (1.5 qian) *Concha Ostreae* (4 qian) *Radix Rubia Cordifoliae* (1.5 qian) *Herba Lycopi* (1.5 qian) *Node of Lotus Rhizome* (3 pieces)
Four doses.
Shao Jie notes: Ascension on the left belongs to the Liver, descent on the right belongs to the Lung. Here, due to stomach fatigue, Liver Yang rebels uncontrollably, and the Lung loses its descending function, resulting in hemoptysis and amenorrhea. This prescription intends to drain the Liver, descend Qi, harmonize Blood, and unblock collaterals.
Anchang Pang Gan Yang scorching the Lung, coughing up phlegm with blood, wiry-rapid pulse, transparent tongue color, hematochezia, fear of developing into consumption. (February 10th.)

Re-examination: Cough still presents with blood, tense-rapid pulse, Liver Yang ascending. Should prioritize clearing and descending. (March 7th.)
*Radix Rehmanniae Preparata* (4 qian) *Folium Mori Bombycis* (3 qian) *Cacumen Platycladi Carbonized* (3 qian) *Herba Siegesbeckiae Orientalis* (2 qian) *Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (3 qian) *Concha Arionis* (6 qian)
*Radix Asparagi* (2 qian) *Radix Rubia Cordifoliae* (3 qian) *Radix Scrophulariae* (3 qian) *Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis Carbonized* (3 qian) *Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride* (1.5 qian) *Radix Imperatae* (1 liang, decocted for water)
Five doses.
Shao Jie notes: The *Neijing* states: Injury to Yang collaterals causes external bleeding; injury to Yin collaterals causes internal bleeding. It is presumed that anger and overwork damage the Liver, secretly consuming Ying Yin. Both the Lung and Large Intestine are harmed, forcing Blood to flow recklessly; the longer it drags on, the more severe it becomes. The previous three prescriptions all employ softening the Liver and purifying the Lung, clearing heat and nourishing Yin, deeply aligning with the pathogenesis, thus achieving efficacy.
Anchang Hu Hemoptysis with shortness of breath, wiry-rapid pulse, slightly yellow tongue, alternating chills and fever, this is Wood Fire punishing the Lung. Should prioritize clearing Shaoyang.
*Folium Mori Bombycis* (3 qian) *Exocarpium Benincasae* (1.5 qian) *Herba Siegesbeckiae Orientalis* (3 qian) *Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae* (3 qian) *Concha Arionis* (6 qian) *Rhizoma Belamcandae* (2 qian) *Folium Phyllostachidis Discretae* (1.5 qian) *Radix Blepharispes* (3 qian) *Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis Carbonized* (3 qian) *Radix Rubia Cordifoliae* (2 qian) *Retinervium Pericarpii Citri Reticulatae* (1.5 qian)
Decocted in clear water, three doses.
Re-examination: Bleeding has ceased, but cough and shortness of breath persist, rapid pulse, yellow tongue, Liver Fire still blazing. Clearing and descending is appropriate. (December 2nd.)
*Radix Asteris Tatarici* (1.5 qian) *Folium Mori Bombycis* (3 qian) *Caulis Petasitae* (1.5 qian) *Fructus Ligustri Lucidi* (3 qian) *Radix Asparagi* (2 qian) *Concha Arionis* (6 qian)
*Rhizoma Belamcandae* (2 qian) *Semen Oriza Sativae Germinatum* (4 qian) *Dendrobii Caulis* (3 qian) *Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (3 qian) *Lapis Aquae Dulcis* (0.8 fen)
Decocted in clear water, four doses.
Shao Jie notes: Decline of Yangming collaterals leads to cold; Yin deficiency with unconcealed Yang leads to fever. In summary, Liver Yang rebels causing Blood to overflow upwards. Thus, the first prescription achieved efficacy by softening the Liver, purifying the Lung, descending Qi, and cooling Blood. The second prescription, while clearing and descending, incorporated stomach-nourishing methods, establishing an orderly legislative sequence.
Zhang Yu Hemoptysis persists, rapid pulse, wiry pulse at Right Guan, chest tightness, slightly yellow tongue. Should clear, descend, and resolve phlegm.
*Exocarpium Benincasae* (1.5 qian) *Folium Phyllostachidis Discretae* (1.5 qian) *Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis Carbonized* (3 qian) *Radix Paeoniae Rubra* (1.5 qian) *Rhizoma Belamcandae* (2 qian) *Retinervium Pericarpii Citri Reticulatae* (1.5 qian) *Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (3 qian) *Radix Notoginseng* (1 qian) *Herba Siegesbeckiae Orientalis* (3 qian) *Caulis Petasitae* (1.5 qian) *Radix Asteris Tatarici* (1.5 qian)
Decocted in clear water, four doses.
Shao Jie notes: Stomach Heat rushing to the Lung forces Blood to overflow upwards. Indeed, the epigastrium corresponds to the heart area, which is where Liver collaterals intersect and pass. Now, due to stagnant Heat in the Liver and Stomach rushing to the Lung, epigastric fullness is felt. Treatment employs clearing the Lung, harmonizing collaterals, cooling Blood, and resolving stasis; the medication is quite prudent.
Anchang Xu Anger stirred Liver Yang, Qi rushing causing hemoptysis, wiry-thin pulse, slightly yellow tongue. Temporarily prioritize clearing, descending, and resolving phlegm. (March 7th.)
*Fructus Viticis* (1.5 qian) *Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis Carbonized* (3 qian) *Radix Rubia Cordifoliae* (3 qian) *Radix Asteris Tatarici* (1.5 qian) *Rhizoma Belamcandae* (2 qian) *Retinervium Pericarpii Citri Reticulatae* (1.5 qian) *Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (3 qian) *Radix Asparagi* (2 qian) *Lignum Dalbergiae Odoriferae* (0.7 fen) *Radix Blepharispes* (2 qian) *Herba Siegesbeckiae Orientalis* (3 qian)
Decocted in clear water, five doses.
Shao Jie notes: Wrath moves Liver Yang, Blood follows Qi in rebellion. This prescription follows Miu Zhongchun’s principle that "Qi is the commander of Blood," and is indeed a good remedy for the syndrome.
Anchang Wang Yin deficiency with internal heat, constipation, thin-rapid pulse, insecure essence gate, coughing up phlegm with blood. Should prioritize preserving Yin. (June 27th)
*Dendrobii Caulis* (3 qian) *Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis Carbonized* (3 qian) *Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (3 qian) *Radix Rubia Cordifoliae* (1.5 qian) *Rhizoma Belamcandae* (2 qian) *Cacumen Platycladi Carbonized* (3 qian)
*Cortex Anthemidis Indici Fritta* (1.5 qian) *Herba Siegesbeckiae Orientalis* (3 qian) *Radix Rehmanniae Preparata* (4 qian) *Semen Platycladi* (3 qian) *Retinervium Pericarpii Citri Reticulatae* (1.5 qian) *Folium Nelumbinis Nove* (1 corner)
Four doses.
Shao Jie notes: Summer stores Yin, Winter stores Yang. At this time in summer, encountering a body deficient in fluids, Yang does not subside; ascending causes blood overflow, descending causes spermatorrhea. This prescription nourishes Yin, clears heat, harmonizes Blood, and purifies the Lung; the treatment method is excellent.
Anchang Huang Gan Yang scorching the Lung, coughing with blood, wiry pulse, headache when facing wind, smooth center of tongue, tinnitus with pain. Should prioritize clearing Shaoyang.
*Folium Mori Bombycis* (3 qian) *Flos Chrysanthemi Morifolii* (2 qian) *Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (3 qian) *Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis Carbonized* (3 qian) *Concha Arionis* (6 qian) *Rhizoma Belamcandae* (2 qian)
*Cacumen Platycladi Carbonized* (3 qian) *Folium Loureiri* (1.5 qian) *Colla Corii Asini Fritta* (1.5 qian) *Cortex Moutan Radicis* (3 qian) *Dendrobii Caulis* (3 qian) *Folium Phyllostachidis Discretae* (1.5 qian)
Decocted in clear water, five doses.
Shao Jie notes: Yin fluids fail to ascend, Jue Yang burns incessantly. Rushing to the Lung causes coughing with blood; carrying Gallbladder Heat upward clouding the clear orifices causes headache and tinnitus. This prescription nourishes the Stomach, purifies the Lung, and simultaneously clears Liver and Gallbladder Heat, truly embodying the principle that treating disease must seek the root.
Anchang Xu Phlegm-blood has been removed, deficient-rapid pulse, incessant cough, rebellious Qi. Should prioritize clearing and descending. (April 7th.)
*Folium Mori Bombycis* (3 qian) *Retinervium Pericarpii Citri Reticulatae* (1.5 qian) *Folium Phyllostachidis Discretae* (1.5 qian) *Exocarpium Benincasae* (1.5 qian) *Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (3 qian) *Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis Carbonized* (3 qian) *Gypsum Fibrosum* (6 qian) *Rhizoma Belamcandae* (3 qian) *Radix Aristolochiae* (1 qian) *Caulis Petasitae* (1.5 qian) *Radix Peucedani* (1.5 qian)
Decocted in clear water, three doses.
Shao Jie notes: This is a case where phlegm-blood has been removed, but residual Heat in the Lung and Stomach remains unclarified. Therefore, treatment prioritizes descending Qi and clearing the Stomach.
