1. The Master said: Among diseases, there are Ben Tun (Rushing Pig) disease, vomiting of pus and blood, Jing Bu (Fright and Terror) disease, and Huo Xie (Fire Evil) disease. These four categories of diseases all originate from fright and sudden shock.
The Master said: Ben Tun disease arises from the lower abdomen (Shaofu), rushing upward to the throat. During an attack, the patient suffers intensely as if dying, but it subsides and stops afterward. All such cases stem from fright and fear.
2. When Ben Tun Qi rushes upward to the chest, accompanied by abdominal pain and alternating chills and fever, Ben Tun Tang (Rushing Pig Decoction) is the primary formula.
Ben Tun Tang Formula
Gancao (Licorice Root), Chuanxiong (Sichuan Lovage Rhizome), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) [each 2 liang], Banxia (Pinellia Tuber) [4 liang], Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) [2 liang], Shengge (Kudzu Root) [5 liang], Shaoyao (Peony Root) [2 liang], Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) [4 liang]
Ganli Gen Baipi (White Bark of Prunus salicina Root) [1 sheng]
Take the above nine ingredients, add two dou of water, decoct to obtain five sheng. Take one sheng warm, three times during the day and once at night.
3. After sweating therapy, if burning needles were used to induce sweat, and the needle sites became cold, presenting with nodular redness, Ben Tun disease will inevitably occur, with Qi rushing from the lower abdomen to the heart. Moxibustion should be applied to each nodule (one moxa cone per site), and Guizhi Jia Gui Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction with Additional Cinnamon Twig) is the primary formula.
Guizhi Jia Gui Tang Formula

1. The Master said: Pulse diagnosis should assess excess (Tai Guo) and deficiency (Bu Ji). If the Yang pulse is faint and the Yin pulse is wiry (Xian), this indicates Xiong Bi (Chest Bi Syndrome) with pain. This occurs because of extreme deficiency. Now, knowing that Yang deficiency is located in the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner), the reason for Xiong Bi and heart pain is due to the wiry Yin pulse.
2. In a healthy person without exterior symptoms of chills or fever, shortness of breath and inability to take a full breath indicate an Excess syndrome.
3. For Xiong Bi disease manifesting as wheezing, coughing up saliva and phlegm, chest and back pain, and shortness of breath, with a Cun Kou (Radial artery at the wrist) pulse that is deep and slow, and a Guan position pulse that is small, tight, and rapid, Gualou Xiebai Baijiu Tang (Trichosanthes Fruit, Macrostemon Stem, and White Wine Decoction) is the primary formula.
