Qucha (BL2), Shangxing (GV23), Yingxiang (LI20), Suliqiao (DU26), Shuigou (GV26), Yinjiao (DU28), Tongtian (BL7), Heliao (LI19), and Fengfu (GV16) mainly treat nasal congestion. They also address labored breathing, nasal discharge, rhinorrhea with epistaxis accompanied by sores. Chengling (BL18) and other points mainly treat nasal obstruction and unobstructed breathing. In cases of nasal congestion, moxa is applied to Xinhui (GV22), seven moxa cones daily; symptoms gradually subside by the fourth day and are completely cured by the fifth day. Chengling (BL18) treats rhinorrhea with epistaxis and unobstructed breathing. Suliqiao (DU26) treats nasal congestion, non-resolving polyps, excessive discharge, and sores.
According to the *Copper Man Acupoint Acupuncture and Moxibustion Illustrated Classic*, the treatment methods for Suliqiao (DU26) are missing from various medical formulas. *Qianjin Fang* treats nasal congestion with non-resolving polyps, excessive discharge, and sores. However, the current version of *Qianjin Fang* only states: "Mainly treats nasal deviation, excessive discharge, rhinorrhea with epistaxis accompanied by sores." It also states: "Mainly treats nasal obstruction and unobstructed breathing." This differs slightly from the text here. Could it be that ancient and modern versions differ?
Lijui (ST45) treats aversion to wind and nasal dysfunction. Shuigou (GV26) and other points mainly treat loss of smell and taste. (*Qianjin Fang* see Nasal Discharge.)
Yinjiao (DU28) mainly treats airway obstruction due to nasal polyps, pain in the nasal tip and forehead, and corrosive sores in the nose. (*Qianjin Fang*) Qucha (BL2) and other points mainly treat rhinorrhea with epistaxis accompanied by sores. (Nasal Congestion section) Naokong (GB13) treats leprosy of the nose (see Nasal Pain). For nasal polyps, apply 200 moxa cones to Shangxing (GV23), and another 100 moxa cones each to the points on both sides of Shangxing, three cun apart. Yingxiang (LI20) treats nasal polyps, loss of smell, and epistaxis. (*Copper Man*) Yinjiao (DU28) treats nasal polyps and corrosive sores. Suliqiao (DU26) treats non-resolving polyps, excessive discharge, and sores. Heliao (LI19), (see Nasal Discharge.) treats rhinorrhea with epistaxis accompanied by sores. (Ming Dynasty annotation) Juliao (ST3) treats swelling and painful abscesses above the nasal tip. (See Facial Paralysis. Single prescription rhyme says: One square inch of dog head ash, half a qian of cloves, finely ground and blown into the nose, polyps dissolve into water.)
