Shijue (Corpse-like Coma), is caused by the rebellion of Yin and Yang Qi. Its presentation resembles a tile; there is still faint respiration but irregular, the pulse is still palpable but the body lacks consciousness. The pulse is deep, large, and slippery. If the body is warm and sweating, it indicates the pathogen has entered the Fu organs; upon the restoration of Qi, self-healing will occur. If the lips are cyanotic and the body cold, it indicates the pathogen has entered the Zang organs, leading to death. Death occurs if hands and feet are cold beyond the elbows and knees, or if the fingernails are cyanotic and black.
Acupoints: Renzhong (ST26, needle inserted to the depth of the teeth), Baihui (GV20), Jianshi (PC5), Lieque (LU7), Qimen (LR14), Juque (CV14), Qihai (CV6), Jinmen (BL63), Lidui (ST45), Dadu (SP2), Yinbai (SP1), Dadun (LR1).
For other conditions such as Shijue, sudden obstruction, or Zhong'e (sudden evil invasion), moxibustion can be applied three cun posterior to the nipple. For males, use the left side; for females, use the right side.
Treatment methods for the Five Evils: When the human body is deficient, the Spirit wanders and loses its post, allowing external ghosts/evil spirits to invade, causing sudden death.
Liver deficiency manifests with White Corpse Ghosts.
Qiuxu (GB40, puncture 0.3 cun, tonify upon Deqi, retain for three breaths, abdominal borborygmi indicates treatability), Ganshu (BL18, puncture 0.3 cun, retain upon Deqi and tonify).
Heart deficiency manifests with Black Corpse Ghosts.
Yangchi (TE4, puncture 0.3 cun, retain for one breath, advance 0.1 cun, retain for three breaths, slowly withdraw and press the acupoint), Xinsbu (BL15, puncture 0.3 cun, retain upon Deqi and tonify, patient will revive).
Spleen deficiency manifests with Green Corpse Ghosts.
Chongyang (ST42, puncture 0.3 cun, tonify upon Deqi, retain for three breaths, slowly withdraw and press the acupoint), Pishu (BL20, puncture 0.3 cun, retain for two breaths, slowly withdraw needle upon arrival of Qi, patient will revive).
Lung deficiency manifests with Red Corpse Ghosts.
Hegu (LI4, puncture 0.3 cun, tonify upon Deqi, retain for three breaths, withdraw 0.1 cun, slowly withdraw needle), Feishu (BL13, puncture 0.15 cun, retain upon Deqi and tonify, slowly withdraw needle).
Kidney deficiency manifests with Yellow Corpse Ghosts.
Jinggu (BL64, puncture 0.15 cun, retain for three breaths, advance 0.3 cun, retain for one breath, slowly withdraw and press the acupoint), Shenshu (BL23, puncture 0.3 cun, tonify upon Deqi, retain for three breaths, slowly withdraw and press the acupoint).
Zhang Jingyue stated: Regarding any case of violent coma caused by Corpse Ghosts, where consciousness is lost: although the four limbs may be cold and breathless, if the eyes show spirit, the heart and abdomen remain warm, there is no saliva in the mouth, the tongue is not curled, the scrotum is not retracted, there is no sweat, and less than one shichen (two hours) has passed since onset, acupuncture can still be used to restore consciousness. The method for revival involves using fine needles. First, hold the needle in the mouth to warm it before insertion, so that the Qi of the meridians will not resist or rebel.
