(With supplementary notes)
**Bone-steaming tidal fever:** When the heat steams upward, symptoms include panting, coughing, and hemoptysis (coughing up blood); dry lips, red face; tinnitus, and vertigo. If it leads to Lung萎 (Lung atrophy) or Lung abscess, when the heat steams in the middle, there is abdominal and hypochondriac distension and pain, physical fatigue, emaciation, polyphagia with hunger. When the heat steams downward, there is seminal emission, cloudy and profuse urination, diarrhea with a sensation of dryness and urgency, lower back pain, thin calves, and spontaneous erection of the penis.
Acupoints: Feishu (BL13), Gaohuangshu (BL43), Zusanli (ST36).
**Sihua Acupoint Moxibustion Method:** Have the patient stand upright. Take a grass stalk three to four chi long. Align one end with the tip of the middle toe of the foot (or alternatively, the great toe). Follow the sole of the foot upwards along the heel, keeping it close to the skin, until reaching the major crease of the knee joint, then cut the stalk. Next, have the patient sit upright, part their hair at the crown. Take this grass stalk from the tip of the nose, along the midline of the head, down the neck and back, keeping it close to the skin. Mark the end point with ink. Take another short grass stalk, fold it in half. Press it against the root of the nasal bridge, spreading it left and right to the corners of the mouth, cutting it like the character "人" (person). Straighten it and find the midpoint. Place it horizontally on the ink mark on the spine. The ends of the grass stalks on both sides indicate the first pair of acupoints to be moxibusted, which are Xinshu (BL15) located below the fifth thoracic vertebra. Since the Heart governs blood, moxibustion here regulates blood. The number of moxa cones increases with age, adding one cone per year, which has proven effective repeatedly (e.g., a 30-year-old receives 31 cones). Take the previously measured long grass stalk for the leg, fold it in half, and press it against the laryngeal prominence. Let the two ends hang down along the spine. Mark the endpoint with ink. Then place the previously measured short grass stalk horizontally on this ink mark as before. The ends of the grass stalks on both sides indicate the second pair of acupoints to be moxibusted, which are Geshu (BL17) located below the seventh thoracic vertebra. The *Huangdi Neijing Ling Shu* states: "Blood converges at Geshu." This is because bone-steaming consumptive fever causes blood deficiency and hyperactive fire, hence moxibustion is applied here.
Cui Zhiti established the method for Sihua acupoints but did not specify the acupoint names, likely to prevent unskilled practitioners from easily mastering it. For women with bound feet, measure from the Jianyu (LI15) acupoint on the right shoulder, extending the arm and measuring along the skin to the tip of the middle finger, cutting the stalk to substitute for measuring the foot.
For any man or woman suffering from muscle emaciation due to the Five Injuries and Seven Damages, presenting with night sweats, tidal fever, irritability, cough, and hemoptysis, first moxibustion of seven cones, or fourteen, or twenty-one cones, followed by moxibustion of the two Gaohuangshu (BL43) acupoints.
(Note: According to *Leijing Tuyi*, the upper two Sihua points are near Xinshu (BL15) at the fifth thoracic vertebra, and the lower two are near Ganshu (BL18) at the ninth thoracic vertebra. However, calculating according to this method does not fully align with the *Da Cheng*. The *Da Cheng* states the upper two are Geshu (BL17) and the lower two are Danshu (BL19), which also does not align when calculated by this method. Currently, comparing with methods such as those in *Zisheng Jiu Lao Xue*, as described above.)
Bone heat is difficult to treat; the anterior plate teeth are dry.
Moxibustion on Dazhui (GV14), the Bone Meeting point.
**Deficiency of True Qi:**
Moxibustion on Qihai (CV6), Zusanli (ST36).
**Summer Malaise (Zhu Xia) with Emaciation:** Occurring in early summer, characterized by headache, weak legs, body heat, and poor appetite, is named Zhu Xia (also written as Zhu Xia).
Acupoints: Dazhui (GV14), Feishu (BL13), Geshu (BL17), Weishu (BL21), Zhongwan (CV12).
**Chuan Shi Lao (Passing-Through Consumptive Disease) (With supplementary notes):**
First generation: Worm affects the Heart. Moxibustion on Xinshu (BL15), and the surrounding points arranged in the Sihua pattern.
(Note: There is another method for the upper and lower two points of Sihua. Locate Xinshu (BL15) below the fifth thoracic vertebra. Take a grass stalk, fold it in half, press against the root of the nasal bridge, spread left and right to the mouth corners, cut like "人". Straighten and find the midpoint. Place horizontally on the mark. The ends indicate the two Xinshu points. Take the midpoint of this stalk, place it vertically on the mark. The upper and lower ends indicate two more points. Together with Xinshu, moxibustion four points. For Feishu (BL13), mark below the third thoracic vertebra, and so on.)
Second generation: Moxibustion on Feishu (BL13), four points as before.
Third generation: Moxibustion on Ganshu (BL18), four points as before.
Fourth generation: Moxibustion on Jueyinshu (BL20), four points as before.
Fifth generation: Moxibustion on Shenshu (BL23), four points as before.
Sixth generation: Moxibustion on Sanjiaoshu (BL22), four points as before.
This condition alternates between mild and severe every five days. Moxibustion should only be performed on the mild days when the "worm" is considered deeply intoxicated. One must also chant the Pu'an Mantra for protection.
One: To extract the consumptive worm, moxibustion can be applied to one point above the third thoracic vertebra, and the two Gaohuangshu (BL43) points, seven cones each. Afterward, regulate with diet, then administer medicine to extract the worm.
One: Moxibustion on Yaoyan (Waist Eye) Acupoint Method: On the day of Guihai, after the second watch (approx. 9-11 PM), just before midnight, when the Six Spirits gather. Have the patient undress, raise arms upward, and turn slightly backward. A slight depression in the waist indicates the acupoint. Stand upright and mark with ink. Then lie prone on the bed. Moxibustion of seven, nine, or eleven cones. The worm will surely be expelled through vomiting or diarrhea. Burn and discard far away to avoid contagion. This method is easier and more effective than Sihua and other acupoints.
