The vessel of Foot-Taiyang (Bladder Meridian) originates at the inner canthus (Jingming, BL1), ascends to the forehead, and intersects at the vertex (Baihui, GV20). Its branch extends from the vertex to the upper angle of the ear. The main straight trunk enters the cranium from the vertex, connects with the brain, then emerges again, descends separately through the nape, follows the medial aspect of the scapula, runs alongside the spine, reaches the waist, enters the interior, connects with the Kidney, and belongs to the Bladder.
Its branch descends from the waist, penetrates the buttocks, and enters the popliteal fossa ("popliteal" refers to the posterior bend of the knee, i.e., Weizhong, BL40). Another branch separates from the medial scapular region, descends laterally across the scapula ("scapula" refers to the muscle mass rising below the humerus), runs medially alongside the spine, passes through the hip joint (hip bone joint, i.e., Huantiao, GB30), follows the posterolateral aspect of the thigh, converges in the popliteal fossa, then descends through the calf muscle ("calf" is called shuan), emerges posterior to the lateral malleolus (Kunlun, BL60), follows Jinggu (BL64), and terminates at the lateral tip of the little toe (Zhiyin, BL67; from here it transitions into Foot-Shaoyin).
When Foot-Taiyang is affected, symptoms include headache with a sensation of rushing upward, eyes feeling as if they are falling out, neck feeling as if being pulled, back pain, waist feeling as if broken, inability to flex the thighs, calves feeling bound or knotted, feet feeling as if torn, known as "An-Jue" (An-Vessel Reversal). Foot-Taiyang governs diseases related to sinews, including hemorrhoids, malaria, manic-depressive disorders, headaches and vertex pain, yellow eyes, tearing, nasal congestion or epistaxis, pain throughout the neck, back, loins, sacrum, and feet, and dysfunction of the little toe. If the pulse is excess, the Renying pulse (ST9) is twice as large as the Cunkou pulse (Radial artery); if deficient, the Renying pulse is smaller than the Cunkou pulse. (From *Ling Shu*)
At Shen hour (3-5 PM), Qi flows from Tinggong (SI19) to Jingming (BL1), traversing the head, neck, back, loins, buttocks, and legs, terminating at Zhiyin (BL67). **Weiyang (BL39)**: Two points, located 6 cun below Chengfu (BL36), locate by flexing and extending the leg. ○ This is the Lower He-Sea point of the Sanjiao, located posterior to Foot-Taiyang, emerging between the two tendons on the lateral side of the popliteal fossa. (From *Zi Sheng*) ○ Located 2 cun lateral to Weizhong, at the tip of the popliteal crease, between two tendons, locate by flexing/extending. (From *Ru Men*) ○ Needle depth: 7 fen; moxibustion: 3 cones. (From *Tong Ren*) ○ *Tong Ren* states Weiyang is anterior to Foot-Taiyang and posterior to Foot-Shaoyang, emerging between the two tendons on the lateral side of the popliteal fossa, 6 cun below Chengfu, as a collateral of Foot-Taiyang connecting to Hand-Shaoyang. However, textual analysis suggests it should be 1 chi 6 cun. According to classical methods, locating Weiyang involves flexing/extending, while locating Yanglingquan (GB34) involves sitting upright with knees aligned, measuring down to the front of Weiyang. Thus, "Wei" means bent. Weizhong is the center of the popliteal fossa; Weiyang is the Yang aspect of the bent knee, at the end of the crease between two tendons. Anatomically, this lies between Taiyang and Shaoyang, at the boundary of the medial and lateral aspects. Therefore, it is correctly described as "Anterior to Taiyang, Posterior to Shaoyang, Lateral Popliteal." The point lies exactly between the two tendons of the crease. When the knee is straightened, Yanglingquan aligns with this point, confirming the distance as 1 chi 6 cun. (From *Gang Mu*)
