Lei Gong said: Fire generating from water, apart from [Guizi Sui / KT Marrow] (a specific medicinal material, likely a textual corruption or specific term), no one else can achieve it.
There is a beast in the sea named [Guizi / KT]. Its marrow exists within its oil. When this oil touches water, it generates fire on the water surface and cannot be extinguished by water; only spraying with wine can put it out.
Do not collect (process) under the eaves of a house.
Lei Gong said: Whenever using [Guizi], one must remove the calyx and the inner seed portion, taking only the peel. Stir-fry it slowly over heat together with Evodiae Fructus (Wuzhuyu). When the Evodiae Fructus turns slightly yellowish-black, remove the Evodiae Fructus. Take the peel and seeds of Amomi Fructus Rotundus (Caodoukou), pound them, and use them.
Lei Gong said: Whenever using [Guizi], do not use Pomelo Peel (Youpi) or wrinkled peel (Zhouzi); these two types are unusable.
Whenever processing, one must remove a layer of white membrane, finely chop it, wrap it in Carp Skin (Liyupi) for one night. The next morning, take it out and use it.
Among Tangerine Peel (Jupi), the older the age, the better.
Lei Gong said: Whenever using [Guizi], wash it with flowing water from the east to remove yellow leaves, peels, and calyces until clean. Then steam it with wine for one night. Wash it twice more with flowing water from the east, dry it in the sun, and then it is best to use.
Lei Gong said: Whenever using [Guizi], there are four categories to distinguish. Those with eight ridges, pointed at both ends, and purple-black in color, also called Sesame (Huma), are mistaken identities. The true Jusheng (Sesamum indicum, Black Sesame) has seven ridges, is reddish in color, and has a astringent and sour taste. Calling it Wuyouma (Black Oil Sesame) and treating it as Jusheng is also an error.
If processing one jin (approx. 500g), first wash with water. Discard floating ones, retrieve sunken ones, and let them dry. Mix with wine and steam from Si hour (9-11 AM) to Hai hour (9-11 PM). Take out and spread to dry. Pound in a mortar until the outer coarse skin is completely removed. Stir-fry together with Adzuki Beans (Xiaodou). When the beans are cooked, take out, discard the beans, and use the seeds. There is a thin skin on top; remove [impurities/keep as per efficacy in shell], as the potency lies in the shell.
Lei Gong said: Whenever using [Guizi], do not use White Melon Calyx (Baiguadi). One should harvest green melons. Wait until the melon's qi is sufficient, so that the calyx naturally falls onto the vine stem.
After harvesting, before use, wrap them in Langlang Leaves (Langlangye). Hang them in a windy place on the east wall to dry by air.
Lei Gong said: Whenever using Guazi (Melon Seeds), do not use the kernel/seed meat (Shi), lest confusion arise.
After harvesting, expose them to the sun to dry thoroughly inside and out. Then pound them. Sieve through a horse-hair sieve until they become powder, and then use.
