Postpartum righteous Qi (Zheng Qi, the body's vital energy) suddenly becomes deficient, and all joints become loose and open, making it easy for wind pathogen to invade. If management is improper, wind will strike the body, causing unconsciousness, twitching of the mouth and eyes, bending of hands and feet, and stiffness of the body resembling an arched bow; this is wind striking from the exterior. Use Yufeng Tang (Wind-Expelling Decoction): Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, washed with wine), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, stir-fried with wine), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix), each 2 qian. Use Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and Dazao (Jujubae Fructus) as guides, decoct in water, and take hot.
Another prescription: Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica, remove roots not used) stir-fry until black, grind into powder. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with Tongbian (urine of a healthy young boy). If the jaw is clenched, pry open one side of the teeth and pour it in. Or use... [text missing/corrupted].
Another prescription: Heidou (Sojae Semen Nigrum) one tea cup measure, stir-fry until smoke rises, then add five scallion bulbs with roots and stir-fry together. Then add one cup of good Shaoxing wine (sweet wine may also be used), half a cup of water, decoct until one cup remains, take warm. Sweating will lead to recovery. Regardless of how critical the condition, it is invariably effective. This is Sun Simiao's Dadouzi Tang (Soybean Purple Decoction).
Another prescription: A postpartum woman suffered from opisthotonos (body arching backward like a bow), recovered after taking Dadouzi Tang and Duhuo Tang. Later, she suddenly developed this symptom again postpartum, her head and feet opposing each other, separated by about two chi. Several people tried to force her limbs straight but failed. Urgently using Duhuo Tang, administered three doses consecutively led to recovery. Duhuo Tang: Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum), Taidang (Codonopsis Radix), Fushen (Poria cum Pinodia), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Baiwei (Cynanchi Atrati Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), each 1 qian; Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) 7 fen; Zhicao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle) 5 fen; Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) 3 slices; Dazao (Jujubae Fructus) 3 pieces. Decoct in water and take.
Another prescription: I have seen Mr. Yu Lutang treat two postpartum women with this syndrome. One was in severe cold, the other in intense summer heat. Their conditions were critical, with generalized edema, retention of lochia, and trismus (lockjaw). All physicians used tonifying agents without effect. Seeing this syndrome, Mr. Yu deemed pulse diagnosis unnecessary and immediately ordered someone to find an old brick from a cesspit. Wash it clean with running water. Place it in a bowl with five jin of aged Shaoxing wine (aged sweet wine is also acceptable). Heat the brick thoroughly with chestnut charcoal fire, then immerse it in the wine... [text missing/corrupted regarding "dew" and "and"]. Lochia will flow freely, swelling will subside, and the disease will resolve. Furthermore, if the postpartum woman does not usually drink alcohol, Tianguishui (spring water from heaven/natural spring) can be used instead. This method was transmitted from an extraordinary person, tested repeatedly with success, truly a celestial prescription. Do not underestimate it. Additionally, aged cesspit bricks can also treat measles and smallpox that fail to erupt or suddenly sink inward, cases where doctors cannot treat them. Use this brick as described above, or prepare it with natural spring water; it is also miraculous.
