Cut lean pork into thick slices and paste them directly onto the wound. For wounds of any size with unceasing bleeding, it takes immediate effect and is miraculous. Pig skin can also be used. This is the primary formula for emergency hemostasis (stopping bleeding).
Another prescription: Scales of Pangolin (Manis pentadactyla), stir-fried until charred, ground into powder, and applied to the wound after cooling. This is also a divine medicine for stopping bleeding.
For cases where pores on the body bleed incessantly without cause, both of these prescriptions have extraordinary effects. It is best to prepare them in advance for emergencies, and the secret should not be disclosed.
Another prescription: Burn ordinary paper to ash, let it cool, and apply to the wound to stop bleeding.
Another prescription: Stir-fry old ginger until charred but retain its medicinal properties, grind into powder, and apply. It is also highly effective.
Roast dried lotus flowers until dry, grind into powder, mix with wine, and take orally two or three times a day. Recovery occurs within a few days; the effect is miraculous. Dried lotus leaves can also be used. Alternatively, drinking more sugar water is better (see previous text).
In cases of tetanus (Po Shuang Feng) causing alternating chills and fever, lockjaw (trismus), foaming at the mouth, convulsions of hands and feet, or opisthotonos (arching of head and back like a bow), with flat wounds, it is the most critical condition. Using the previously mentioned Yuzhen San (Jade True Powder) can revive the dying and is most miraculous. If there is no time to prepare the medicine in haste, take one qian of fingernails and toenails each, stir-fry with sesame oil until yellow, grind into powder, mix with hot wine, and take orally. Recovery occurs upon sweating. However, it is ultimately not as effective as Yuzhen San.
For tetanus, insert three fingers of your own hand together straight into the patient's mouth. If insertion is possible, the condition is easy to treat; if only two fingers can be inserted, the condition is critical. This method can also be used to verify prognosis in postpartum convulsions in women, thereby determining life or death.
If someone is pierced by a tobacco pipe, bamboo, wood, etc., injuring the throat, one must fear that wind pathogen may enter through respiration. If neck swelling spreads diffusely, mouth cannot open wide, and swallowing is difficult, tetanus must be guarded against. This is internal wind invasion. Ultimately, it is incurable, and no medicine can treat it. When doctors encounter this, they must clearly inform the patient's family beforehand to avoid blame later.
Urgent early rescue is necessary; delay leads to cold forehead and cessation of breath. While the injury is fresh, gently support the patient in supine position, elevate the head, approximate the wound edges, wipe away blood, and use a large rooster. Quickly remove feathers, peel off the chicken skin raw, and apply while hot to the wound. Internally administer Yuzhen San (see previous text) for self-healing. After recovery...
Another prescription: Support the patient in supine position as before, approximate the wound edges. Use equal parts of raw pine resin and cooked pine resin; or add powder of raw Pinellia ternata (Banxia). Apply thickly and tightly to the wound (or mash green onion bulbs with honey and apply). Cover externally with plaster (any kind), adhering to the surrounding healthy skin as well. Wrap with cloth strips and suture with needle and thread. Administer three qian of Yuzhen San daily (formula see previous text). Stop administration when granulation tissue forms; continue if not, and survival is possible.
