Occurring on the lateral aspect of the thigh, also known as Tiegu Ju (Bone-Adherent Abscess) or Suojiao Ju (Leg-Shrinking Abscess). In the initial stage, there is no heat or redness. In severe cases, the pain is like a cone piercing, making flexion and extension difficult, and movement inconvenient. After a long time, cold stagnation transforms into heat; excessive heat generates pus without a head, and the skin color remains unchanged. Gradually, a single bright red spot emerges, indicating that internal pus has formed. Once ulcerated, healing is extremely difficult. Use Baijiezi (White Mustard Seed) ground into powder, mixed with Shaojiu (Brewed Wine) for external application. Alternatively, use Daji (Knoxia Root) and Gansui (Radix Kansui) ground into powder, mixed with Baimi (White Honey) for external application. Internally administer Yanghe Tang (Yang-Harmonizing Decoction), one dose per day. After four or five doses, it can be resolved. After resolution, continue taking Zilong Wan (Dragon Pill) or Xiaojin Dan (Little Gold Pellet) to prevent recurrence. Incision is strictly contraindicated; if incised, it will inevitably lead to leg-shrinking disability. This is a secret prescription from Linwu Shanren (see formulas later).
Occurring on the medial aspect of the thigh, the treatment method is the same as for Tiegu Ju (Bone-Adherent Abscess).
This condition is also named Xiugu Ju (Rotting Bone Abscess). It often occurs in the cheeks, gums, eyelids, under the chin, hands, feet, legs, and arms. Its symptoms are approximately the same as those of Tiegu Ju (Bone-Adherent Abscess) and also belongs to Yin Syndrome (Cold/Deficiency Pattern). Additionally, some newborns have bone-like structures inside their bodies; when they grow up, swelling and abscesses suddenly appear at these sites. After ulceration, the bone falls out, and only then does the wound heal. Grind Sheng Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root) into powder, mix with water to form cakes as thick as three coins, apply to the sore, and moxibustion with a ball of Ai Rong (Mugwort Floss) weighing four or five fen should be applied. Ensure only mild warmth, avoiding pain. If the cake dries, replace it with a new medicated cake and continue moxibustion. The goal is to maintain the redness and vitality of the sore. Treat the rest according to the formulas for Tiegu Ju (Bone-Adherent Abscess) and Yin Ju (Yin Abscess).
See formulas in the Leg section.
Refer to the formulas for Yangmei Chuang (Syphilitic Chancre) in the previous Carbuncle and Toxic Disease chapter. Also known as Yukou Biandu (Fish-Mouth Groin Swelling) or Waishan (External Hernia). Occurs on both sides of the lower abdomen and in the groin crease, shaped like a kidney, with unchanged skin color, hard upon pressure, and slight pain. Daily, use six qian of Zaogelaci (Gleditsia Sinensis Thorn) ground into powder, placed in a cloth bag, and cooked with two he of glutinous rice to make porridge. Take frequently. It will completely resolve in three to four days. Alternatively, use Zilong Wan (Dragon Pill) (see later), take three fen each time, three times a day, until fully recovered. Incision is strictly contraindicated. Huangming Gao (Yellow Bright Ointment) is particularly miraculous.
Another formula: Beizeizi (Chinese Gallnut), dry-roast on a new tile, grind into powder, mix well with aged wine, spread on cloth for application (add a layer of paper over the cloth). It will resolve overnight. Effective even for chronic ulcers that fail to heal; tested repeatedly with divine efficacy.
