For symptoms presenting as local swelling or abnormalities, puncture the affected area with a needle to drain the pathogenic qi. If there is a membrane under the tongue resembling pomegranate seeds or worm shapes, it should be promptly punctured with a needle. The needle should be used to挑破 (pierce and spread) towards both sides laterally; do not use a straight needle for deep insertion to avoid damaging the underlying blood vessels/channels. After scraping clean and puncturing the aforementioned conditions, rinse thoroughly with Licorice Decoction (Gancao Tang), then frequently apply the white juice of mulberry bark, aged Jingmo (Beijing ink), or powdered White Silkworm (Bai Jiangcan). Alternatively, select other methods for cleansing the mouth and detoxification to ensure safety. If parents, out of indulgence and fear of the child's pain, protect the child from being punctured and scraped, the toxins will have no outlet. Quickly, this may transform into severe syndromes such as Umbilical Tetanus (Qifeng), Lockjaw (Jinkou), or Pinched Mouth (Cuekou), where survival rates are extremely low. Delayed treatment may lead to dangerous conditions like Internal Hooking (Neidiao - abdominal cramping), Coiled Intestine (Panchang - intestinal spasms), or Convulsions (Jingchu), making rescue impossible. Some might argue that treating oral diseases in children by piercing can induce illness, so one must always pierce when disease exists, which is troublesome. However, they fail to realize that the "mouth-piercing" method can drain fetal toxins without harming the Original Qi (Yuanqi), being ten thousand times safer than administering harsh and drastic medicines. How can it be disregarded? (From *Yinger Zhiyao Lu*)
Let infants wear multiple layers of old cloth sewn together, lining the areas where urine falls, washing and sun-drying them in rotation; this is optimal. Some use cloth bags filled with rice straw ash to absorb moisture. However, if the ash is taken directly from the stove while fire toxins remain unexpelled, contact by the infant will inevitably cause rashes (Dandu), epilepsy, or convulsions. The ash must be sifted clean and stored for several days before use. (From *Huoying Fang*)
Over-indulgence in protecting infants may lead to situations where they are not fed solid food until age two or three, resulting in Spleen and Stomach deficiency and frequent illnesses throughout life. However, after six months of age, thin porridge made from aged rice can be prepared, and the surface oil/cream of the porridge should be given frequently. After ten months, thicker porridge and soft rice can be gradually introduced to support Middle Qi (Zhongqi - Spleen/Stomach Qi). As long as this is not mixed with breast milk, the child will naturally remain healthy and easy to raise. (From *Baoying Yizhi Lu*)
A young girl suffered from excessive sleepiness, with red cheeks but no body heat. Various physicians mistakenly diagnosed her with Slow Convulsion Syndrome (Man Jingfeng) and administered wind-dispelling agents. Lü Cangzhou examined her pulse, finding it slippery and rapid at the Right Guan position, while other positions were harmonious. He said, "This female..."
