(Indicated for heart pain. From *Suwen: Pulse Essentials and Subtle Discussion*)
When the heart pulse is tense, a mass appears in the lower abdomen. The Heart organ itself does not accept pathogenic factors; instead, the pathogen must transmit to the Fu organs, hence the appearance of a mass in the lower abdomen. When Heart Qi rebels and fails to flow smoothly, unceasing pain should be expected.
Treatment should simultaneously regulate Heart Qi; this is not solely due to invasion by Cold pathogens.
**Muxiang San (Wood Fragrance Powder)** indicates treatment for Xin Han (heart hernia, characterized by abdominal pain radiating to the heart), lower abdominal pain, and pain so severe it causes syncope without cessation.

The *Suwen* states: Various symptoms caused by Wind, such as tremors, dizziness, stiffness, limb pain, weakness, twisting, abdominal urgency, and tendon contraction, all belong to the position of Wood-Wind in the Foot-Jueyin meridian, representing the Qi of the Liver and Gallbladder.
(Wind implies movement. Movement implies shaking. When Wind-Qi is excessive and primarily causes dizziness and vertigo, it is because Wood-Qi is prosperous while Metal-Qi is weak and cannot control Wood. Since Wood generates Fire, Wind and Fire often transform into Heat syndromes, indicating an excess of Yang-Heat.)
Wind diseases may manifest as alternating cold and heat, internal Heat, internal Cold, leprosy (li feng), hemiplegia (pian ku), stiff and painful waist and spine, tinnitus, nasal congestion, and other conditions accompanied by numbness (bu ren). Although the diseases differ, their names vary.
The classics state: Wind travels swiftly and changes frequently. When pores (cou li) open, one feels chilly; when closed, one feels hot and stifled. When Wind-Qi enters and moves between meridians and muscles, interfering with Wei-Qi (Defensive Qi), the pathway becomes obstructed, causing muscle erosion and ulceration. When Wei-Qi coagulates and fails to circulate, numbness occurs in the flesh. Between muscle layers, where Wei-Qi flows, Wind and Wei-Qi contend, moving together through the muscle tissue, causing air pathways to become rough and obstructed. Obstruction of air pathways leads to internal stagnation of Wind-Heat; contending Wei-Qi causes muscle erosion and eruption of sores. When Wei-Qi is constrained by Wind and cannot circulate throughout the body, rising and coagulating without flowing, numbness results. This refers to skin and flesh becoming insensible to cold, heat, pain, and itch, like wood or stone.
The classics say: Wind is the head of all diseases. Its changes are unpredictable, giving rise to other illnesses, all initiated by Wind-Qi. Due to the infinite variations of the four seasons and the Six Qi and Five Movements, pushing and striking endlessly, how could there be interruption due to mistiming? Thus, Wind contracted on Jia-Yi days in Spring affects the Liver (Liver Wind); on Bing-Ding days in Summer, the Heart (Heart Wind); on Wu-Ji days in Late Summer, the Spleen (Spleen Wind); on Geng-Xin days in Autumn, the Lung (Lung Wind); on Ren-Gui days in Winter, the Kidney (Kidney Wind).
Wind entering the Zang and Fu organs via Shu points constitutes Wind of the Zang and Fu organs.
Symptoms of Lung Wind: Profuse sweating, aversion to wind, pale complexion, frequent coughing, shortness of breath, mild during the day, severe at night.
Symptoms of Heart Wind: (Following the same pattern), irritability, red complexion, severe cases result in slurred speech.
Symptoms of Liver Wind: Sadness, slightly blue-green complexion, dry throat, irritability, occasional aversion to women.
Symptoms of Spleen Wind: Lethargy, flaccid limbs, pale yellow complexion, loss of appetite.
Symptoms of Kidney Wind: Puffy face, spinal pain preventing upright standing, dark complexion, difficulty with urination and defecation.
Furthermore: Cold, Wind, and Heat are the beginnings of various diseases. All Zang and Fu organs are sites where Wind originates. Fire and Heat are the root of Yang; bending, straightening, shaking, and moving are the functions of Wind. Dizziness, vertigo, and vomiting indicate severe Wind-Heat. When Wind-Heat is stagnant and depressed, Wind is vigorous, arising from Heat, with Heat as the root and Wind as the branch. "Wind disease" refers to Wind-Heat disease.
Stagnant Wind-Qi causes tendon and vessel spasm and curling, dry and flaccid limbs, dizziness, stiff and painful waist and spine, tinnitus, nasal congestion, bitter taste, dry tongue, throat obstruction, chest fullness, cough, vomiting, asthma, and distension, thick sputum, intestinal dryness and constipation, dysuria and retention, night sweats, teeth grinding, sleep-talking, muscle twitching, palpitations, gastrointestinal stagnation, inability of fluids to moisten the body leading to excessive urination, internal damp-heat causing intermittent sweating, fluid depletion causing dryness and dysuria, gastrointestinal dryness-stagnation causing fluid retention and diarrhea, alternating dryness and dampness causing alternating constipation and diarrhea, exterior Yang and Zheng-Qi (Wei-Qi) combining with pathogenic Heat entering the interior, extreme Yang resembling Yin causing chills, restlessness, and thirst (exterior cold causes chills, interior heat causes thirst), lingering deficiency Qi (Classics state: Pathogenic Heat combining with Wei-Qi in the interior causes chills; emerging to the exterior causes fever). Combination causes disease onset; separation causes disease resolution. Wind-Heat migrating causes pain and numbness. Deficiency of Kidney Water and True Yin with sudden excess of Heart Fire pathogenic Heat causes collapse. Sudden stroke with prolonged muteness. Sudden aphonia. Dark Wind epilepsy. Head-washing Wind. Traumatic Wind (broken injury) or Stroke with various convulsions, pediatric accumulation-heat. Startled Wind accumulation-heat. Differentiating Cold Damage and epidemics. Severe Heat stagnation with ineffective sweating. Black sunken pox indicating imminent death. Wind-Heat sores and scabies in adults and children, especially chronic ones. Scalp dandruff, blackened body, purple-white spots, purple-red wind pimples on face and nose (commonly called Lung Wind). Leprosy (Great Wind Disease). Intestinal Wind hemorrhoids and fistulas. Resolving alcohol heat-toxin, relieving various pathogenic injuries, regulating Cold Damage before sweating (head, neck, body pain), and complex simultaneous exterior-interior syndromes. Also treats postpartum blood deficiency leading to Yin decline and Yang stagnation, causing various Heat syndromes, abdominal fullness and painful obstruction, restlessness, thirst, asthma, stifling sensation, delirium, and mania. Extreme Heat generating Wind with dryness-stagnation causes stiff tongue, locked jaw, muscle twitching, all Wind-Heat dryness syndromes, stagnation preventing expulsion of foul matter, abdominal fullness, cramping pain, and coma (If foul matter is excessive and vomiting occurs, do not use). Also eliminates minor and major sores and toxic substances. Treats falls and blows causing pain. Heat stagnation causing urinary/fecal obstruction, acute waist/abdominal pain, abdominal fullness, and asthma.
