A nursing woman fell ill due to palpitations. After recovery, she suffered from inability to close her eyes. The physician said: "Boil Yuliren (Prunus armeniaca seed) in wine and have her drink it until drunk, then she will recover." The reason is that the ocular meridians are internally connected to the Liver and Gallbladder. Fear causes Qi stagnation, and Gallbladder Qi rushes upward instead of descending. Yuliren can resolve stagnation; entering the Gallbladder channel with the aid of wine, it removes the stagnation, allows Gallbladder Qi to descend, and restores vision. This formula is primarily known as "Yi Zui Yin" (One Drunken Drink).
Yuliren (Soaked, skin removed, 3 qian)
Cooked in one bottle of wine, drinking it proved effective.
A woman over forty years old suffered from blurred vision in both eyes, accompanied by cough and headache. Quack doctors were ineffective. A physician diagnosed her pulse as fine and weak throughout, particularly string-like and weak at the Spleen position, diagnosing it as Spleen deficiency. Li Dongyuan stated: "The five Zang and six Fu organs all receive their qi from the Spleen Earth, which ascends to the eyes. If the Spleen is deficient, the essence and qi of the five Zang organs lose their control and cannot bring clarity to the eyes." Pathogenic factors, taking advantage of the body's deficiency, enter the brain via the ocular meridians, causing tinnitus and heart pain, which relates to the Ministerial Fire (Junhuo); this condition requires stillness. When the Ministerial Fire (Xianghuo) acts on behalf of the Sovereign Fire, physical exertion causes it to flare up recklessly, insulting its conquering element (Metal/Lungs), thus causing cough. If one does not regulate the Spleen and nourish blood, but instead treats the eye condition with bitter-cold herbs, it is treating the branch rather than the root. Since the symptoms and pulse are detailed, the prescription follows the intent. Physicians require insight; therefore, it was named "Ruyi Yin" (As-You-Wish Drink).

A woman suffered from "Lan Xian Feng Yan" (wind syndrome with ulcerated eyelid margins). She used leaves of Fupenzi (Rubus chingii), freshly picked and crushed by hand, chewed in the mouth, and the juice and dregs were kept in a small bamboo tube for use. A gauze mask covered the eyes, with outlines of the eyes drawn on the gauze. Then, the medicinal juice was dripped onto the lower eyelid margin. In the blink of an eye, worms emerged from under the gauze, numbering dozens, thread-like in shape, red and long. The same method was applied to the upper eyelid margin, yielding another dozen worms. Simultaneously, she took formulas for dispelling wind, clearing heat, and invigorating blood, achieving full recovery.
Fupenyè (Leaves of Rubus chingii - capable of removing worms from ulcerated eyelids) Fupenzi (Fructus Rubi - capable of treating dim vision, cold tears, and blindness) Fupenzicao (Herb of Rubus chingii - collect and dry thoroughly, crush extremely soft when using, wrap in thin cotton, soak in human milk. After walking the distance of eight to nine li, apply drops to the eyes, then lie supine. Within three or four days, vision returns to that of a child. Avoid alcohol, wheat products, and oily foods; this is a miraculous product for treating eye diseases.)
A man suffered from red, swollen, and painful eyes. His Spleen and Stomach were weak, making eating difficult. His pulse indicated Excess Liver and Deficient Spleen. If cool herbs were taken to treat the Liver, the Spleen would be damaged, making eating even harder. If warm herbs were taken to tonify the Spleen, the Liver fire would become more excessive, worsening the condition. How to treat this? Therefore, within a neutral-warm formula, the dosage of Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) was doubled. He was advised not to drink tea frequently to avoid damaging the Spleen. Rougui suppresses Liver Wood and benefits Spleen Earth, achieving two goals with one treatment. As the saying goes: "Wood withers when it meets Cinnamon."
A man suffered from long-term blindness with a white nebula obscuring the pupil. Medications were ineffective. This eye condition arose from excessive consumption of hot herbs, leading to an external obstruction and unclear vision. Others believed it was Liver and Kidney deficiency; if they tonified the Liver and Kidney, the blindness would worsen. He was treated with "Jiu Ku Dan" (Bitter-Suffering Pill), and his vision cleared after one month.
