Heel Boil (Genjiao Fa) arises on the heel, caused by wading in water with sweaty feet, injury to sinews from long-distance walking, or the flow and accumulation of damp-heat. At the onset, do not regard it as trivial; initially, there is often itching. Frequent moxibustion with mugwort (Ai Ye) can lead to self-healing within ten days. Otherwise, pus and blood will drip incessantly, failing to heal for years. Apply Wanling Ointment (Wanling Gao) externally, dust with Shengji Powder (Shengji San), wash with a decoction of Sichuan pepper (Jiaojiao), tea leaves (Chaye), Magnolia bark (Houpo), and Mirabilite (Piaoxiao) if itching occurs, and internally administer Liuwei Wuweizi Decoction (Liuwei Wuweizi Tang) for cure.

Liuwei Wuweizi Decoction (Six-Ingredient Schisandra Decoction)
Consists of Achyranthes Root (Niuxi), Stephania Root (Fangji), Areca Seed (Binglang), Red Peony Root (Chishao), Burdock Fruit (Niuzi), and Schisandra Berry (Wuweizi).
Take on an empty stomach.

Four-Ingredient External Paste Formula
Consists of Frankincense (Ruxiang), Myrrh (Moyao), Cuttlebone (Piaoxiao), and Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao).
Grind all into fine powder, melt yellow and white beeswax, mix with the powder, form into cakes, and apply to the affected area.

It is suitable to use Shengma Baidu Yin (Cimicifuga Detoxifying Decoction) and Qianghuo Shengshi Tang (Notopterygium Overcoming Dampness Decoction), apply external pastes, thoroughly drain the pus, and then promote tissue regeneration for recovery.

Ten-Ingredient Cimicifuga Detoxifying Powder (Shiwei Shengma San Du Yin)
Consists of Du Huo (Ben), Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi), Forsythia (Lianqiao), Platycodon Root (Jiegen), Ligusticum Rhizome (Chuanxiong), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), Honeysuckle Flower (Erhua), Cimicifuga Rhizome (Shengma), and White Peony Root (Baishao).
Take well after meals.

Ten-Ingredient Notopterygium Overcoming Dampness Decoction (Shiwei Qianghuo Shengshi Tang)
Consists of Prepared Atractylodes Rhizome (Cangzhu), Forsythia (Lianqiao), Phellodendron Bark (Huangbai), Notopterygium Rhizome (Duhuo), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi), Asarum (Xixin), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian), and Burdock Fruit (Niuzi). All ingredients are stir-fried with wine.
Take well after meals.

Ten-Ingredient External Paste Formula
Consists of Costus Root (Qingmuxiang), Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi), Honeysuckle Flower (Erhua), Gentian Root (Danshen/Dancao - note: Dancao usually refers to Licorice but context implies Gentian/Longdan here due to heat-clearing nature, however literal translation is Dancao), Rheum Palmatum (Dahuang), Rehmannia Root (Shengdi), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), Artemisia Annua (Qinghao), Bletilla Tuber (Baiji), and Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian).
Mix with wine, pound until mashed, and apply externally.
