Li Yu Bian Du (Carp Strangury) is also known as Yu Kou (Fish Mouth), occurring on the sides of both groins. The area at the end of the glans penis is governed by the Kidney and Bladder. This condition arises from damp-heat penetrating into the Bladder, excessive consumption of alcohol and sexual indulgence, which injure the Spleen and Kidney. It should be treated similarly to Bian Du (Strangury). In the initial stage, use Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex) 2 liang and Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) 1 liang; these two herbs are mashed with pig bile for external application.
He Xi Feng (Crane's Knee Wind) occurs above the knee joint. It is caused by accumulated heat in the Liver and Kidney injuring the sinews, or by sitting/lying on damp ground, soaking hot feet in water, or injury from wind-heat pathogens. Initially, the swelling resembles a fist; if prolonged, it spreads like a plate. If treatment is delayed, it may develop into Lou Xi (Leaking Knee, i.e., chronic sinus/fistula of the knee). In the initial stage, moxibustion can be applied, or medicated plasters used. Internally, Mu Gua Xiao Du Yin (Papaya Detoxification Decoction) and Zi Su Liu Qi Yin (Perilla Qi-Circulating Decoction) can be taken, and Wan Ling Gao (Ten Thousand Spirits Ointment) applied externally to cure the condition. Otherwise, there is a risk of developing a limp.

Xi Tui Du (Knee and Leg Toxicity) occurs on the lower side, not far from the knee. It is also caused by damp-heat invasion, leading to blood stasis forming toxicity. The treatment is the same as for He Xi Feng. If neglected, it may develop into Lou Xi (Leaking Knee).
