For constipation, add Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei); decoct in water and take orally.
Place several leeches (Shuichi) on the swollen and red area to suck out toxic blood; recovery will be immediate.
Take a piece of magnetic tile, grind it into a sharp point, hold it firmly with chopsticks, and prick the affected area continuously to release foul blood.
Grind Zaoxintu (Caulis Cinnamomi? No, specifically "Zaoxin Tu" - Fodder Earth / Soil from the bottom of the cooking stove) into powder, mix with fresh cold water, apply to the affected area, and change when dry.
If an infant suffering from Dan Du (Erysipelas-like condition) presents with abdominal distension, panting, restlessness, refusal to nurse, or convulsions, these are considered incurable critical conditions.
Within one hundred days after birth or between six months and a year, if an infant suddenly develops slight redness and swelling around both eyelids, dark cyanotic facial color, irritability and crying at night, or a face red as rouge, this is due to latent heat within being manifested externally. Initially, the whole face resembles chickenpox, with slightly red but not robust feet; the condition fluctuates unpredictably. Subsequently, it spreads to the neck, becoming red like cinnabar, known as Jing Dan (Startle Dan). Treat with Sanjie San (Three-Resolving Powder).
Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Tianma (Rhizoma Gastrodiae), Yujin (Radix Curcumae), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Baifuzi (Rhizoma Typhonii), Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus), Quanxie (Scorpio), Zhike (Fructus Aurantii), Boheye (Folium Menthae), Fencas (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), using Dengxin (Medulla Junci) as a guide.
After an infant suffers from Jing Feng (Convulsive Disorder), wind follows the Qi mechanism, and blood is driven by Qi. Toxic qi accumulates in the skin, flowing into swelling and toxicity, mostly occurring between the cheeks and ear roots, forming carbuncles or boils, called Du Feng (Toxic Wind). It is suitable to internally administer Danggui Baijie San (Angelica Hundred-Resolving Powder) and externally apply Futu San (Poison-Removing Powder).
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Boheye (Folium Menthae), Gange (Radix Puerariae), Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Zhike (Fructus Aurantii), Zaojiaoci (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina), using Congbai (Bulbus Allii Cepae) and Weiru (Radix Polygonati Odorati) as guides.
Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) 1 qian, Beimu (Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae), Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei), Piaoxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis) each 2.5 qian. Grind all into powder, mix with light vinegar, apply to the affected area, and change when dry.
If an infant suffers from falls or cuts/axe wounds breaking the skin, and wind pathogen invades the wound, causing this condition, it is called Poshang Feng (Traumatic Tetanus). It is suitable to internally administer Shufeng Huoxue San (Wind-Dispersing Blood-Invigorating Powder) and externally apply Zijin Dan (Purple Gold Pill).
Shufeng Huoxue San (Wind-Dispersing Blood-Invigorating Powder):
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Shengdi (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata? No, Shengdi is Raw Rehmannia), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Jingjie (Herba Schizonepetae), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Honghua (Flos Carthami), Sumu (Lignum Sappan). Decoct in water and take orally, adding a small amount of wine.
Xi Jiang Yue (Ci Poem):
Infant erysipelas-like toxic sores, though originating from ten different roots, are all caused by excessive deep heart fire, wandering up and down without fixity. Their color is like cinnabar stone, hence the name Dan Du. Treatment methods are clearly recorded in manuals, relying entirely on the physician's discernment.
Infant flowing Dan is most toxic; the ten types manifest differently. If it spreads from top to bottom but does not reach the chest, or reaches the kidneys from top and bottom, it is tragic. Do not intervene hastily within half a week; if it persists for a full week, attack it. Leech acupuncture truly has divine efficacy; internal detoxification combined with external application should be used together.
Internal solution: Danggui Shao (Tail of Angelica), Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Qianghuo (Rhizoma Notopterygii), Jingjie (Herba Schizonepetae), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae), Mutong (Caulis Akebiae), decoct with Zhuye (Folium Bambusae) and Xuanshen (Radix Scrophulariae). External application: Yiyuan San (Benefit Element Powder) applied, plus equal parts Hanshui Shi (Aqua Calcitae). Attack urgently within three to five days; Convulsion-Soothing Pill works like a dream.
The sequence of effort in treating Dan: Start by resolving the exterior and administering purgative drugs first, then use leech acupuncture to suck out toxins. If leech acupuncture is inconvenient, immediately use Bianzhen (Bian Stone/Bloodletting needle), then apply medicine to save the child. This method was established by predecessors.
The quick method first requires detoxification, or using purgatives to unblock. In the initial stage, apply topical treatments rather than attacking blindly, preventing toxin from entering the interior and causing obstruction. The priceless detoxifying powder, combined with Fangfeng Shengma Tang, and effective purgatives, can achieve miraculous results, depending on the physician's skillful application.
Experienced wonderful methods for treating Dan, now told to future generations: First cleanse the body with effective agents, then apply moisturizing/topical treatments after purgation. Crush river snails into a paste for application, or mix Zaoxin Tu with water. Also use Nanxing (Rhizoma Arisaematis) and Dahuang, mix Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) evenly and soak in water.
Apply heated clothing to the infant, leading to Huo Dan (Fire Dan). Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Hanshui Shi (Aqua Calcitae), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), and Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) are miraculous. Why do red moles arise? Due to excessive heat received in the womb. Originally, there is no major harm; there is no need to invite a doctor.
