*Xi Jiang Yue*: Infants suffering from sores and scabies all over the body, with pus and blood oozing from insect nests, this is due to deep-seated fetal toxins stored internally, thus manifesting various symptoms and signs. Treatment should focus on cooling the blood, killing parasites, and detoxifying; Hu Ma Wan (Sesame Seed Pills) offers miraculous results. One must strictly prevent external application or washing from causing toxins to return to the Heart meridian; otherwise, it may lead to abdominal pain, coma, and death.
If external medication is required, for itching, Herba Cnidii (Shechuangzi, 蛇床子) is unparalleled; if pain is caused by insect bites, use Realgar (Xionghuang, 雄黄); for painful swelling, Halitum (Hanshui Shi, 寒水石) is appropriate. If there is no itching, add Radix Drynariae (Gouji, 狗脊); those preferring salty flavors may use Salt Soup or Fire Sulfur; Mylabris (Banmao, 斑猫) ground together and cooked is particularly effective, applied by hand rubbing, nasal inhalation, or topical application.
Pediatric erysipelas (Chi You Dan Du, 赤游丹毒), although divided into ten types, is all caused by excessive internal Heart fire, where heat collides with blood. It may arise in the hands and feet, or appear on the head, face, chest, and back, wandering up and down. Its heat is like fire, pain is unbearable, and its color is red like cinnabar, hence the name Erysipelas. Cases originating from the abdomen and spreading to the limbs are easy to treat; cases entering the abdomen from the limbs are difficult to treat. The method for treating this condition must first use exterior-releasing drugs to resolve heat toxins before applying external compresses. If one hastily applies external medication, Qi will have no outlet and will sink inward, harming the patient significantly.
For pediatric erysipelas, children over one year old are easy to treat. Those under one year old are difficult to treat.
Cases developing after fright involve toxins moving from inside out, which are easy to treat. Cases where erysipelas appears first followed by fright involve toxins moving from outside in, which often result in death and are incurable.
