Treats Qi deficiency in the Liver, Kidney, and Spleen meridians, where Wind-Cold-Dampness pathogens bind and adhere, flowing into the collaterals. Over long periods, treatments fail to cure. Whenever the Six Transformations (Six Qi) change or the Seven Emotions are disturbed, the disease inevitably flares up, manifesting as swelling and fullness, or rigid numbness, aversion to cold with high fever, vomiting, and spontaneous sweating.
Weilingxian (Spatholobi Caulis) [mixed with Kutingli (Descurainiae Semen)] Huangqi (Astragali Radix) [mixed with Xuduan (Dipsaci Radix)] Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) [mixed with Jupi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium)] Wuyao (Linderae Radix) [woody core removed, mixed with Huangsongjie (Wood from Poria)]
Take half a liang of each of the above herbs. Take four large Papayas (Chaenomeles fruit), cut off the lid, remove the pulp/seeds, and insert the aforementioned herbs inside. Secure the lid with a pin, sprinkle with wine, and steam until cooked. Repeat steaming and sun-drying three times. Remove the herbs, dry them by baking, and grind into fine powder. Grind the papaya flesh into a paste, mix with the powder, and pound for a thousand strokes. Form pills the size of wu zi (velvet tree seeds). Take 50 pills per dose at an empty stomach, washed down with warm wine or salted water as preferred. There are many Papaya Pills circulating in the world, but only this formula is effective; it should be respected. Huangsongjie refers to the woody core found within Poria.
