Treats deficiency of the Liver and Kidney, invaded by Wind-Cold-Damp-Toxic pathogens, which flow and accumulate in the legs and knees, causing joint pain that feels like being pierced by awls and knives, a suffering indescribable in words.
Da Wutou (Ten pieces, those with regular shape, crushed, placed in a paper bag, covered and supported by one dou of black soybeans, steamed for one day, then taken out, discard the beans, remove skin and tip) Niuxi (Two liang, remove rhizome and pith, dry).
The above two herbs must not come into contact with copper, iron utensils, fire, or sunlight. Crush Niuxi in a wooden mortar, place together in a stone mill to grind into powder. Form pills with wine paste, size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take forty pills per dose. Use one bottle of pure wine (without dregs), one medium-sized papaya, sliced, placed in the bottle, simmered until the papaya is soft and rotten. Take this wine to swallow the pills, at any time. However, Liver Qi dislikes iron; avoiding it is reasonable; but avoiding fire and sun is an arbitrary taboo by busybodies. For instance, when harvesting Wutou and Niuxi, are they always dried in the shade?
