Gan Jiang (Pao) [Fried Rhizoma Zingiberis] Fu Zi (Pao, peeled, navel removed, equal parts) [Prepared Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata]
Crush the above into a powder. Take four qian per dose, with one and a half cups of water, decoct to seven-tenths volume, strain, and take before meals. If the pathogen enters the Liver, add Mugua; if it enters the Lung, add Sangbaipi; if it enters the Spleen, add Baizhu; if it enters the Heart, add Fuling. Add according to the syndrome.
In Summerheat Stroke (Zhong Shu), the pulse is weak in the Yang position and deficient in the Yin position, slightly slow and resembling a Kou pulse (hollow like a scallion). Summerheat, in the sky manifests as Heat, on the earth manifests as Fire, and in the human viscera belongs to the Heart, thus Summerheat tends to return to the Heart. Being struck by it causes throat obstruction and chest stuffiness, leading to coma and unconsciousness. If it enters the Liver, there is dizziness and numbness/stiffness; if it enters the Spleen, there is deep sleep without awareness; if it enters the Lung, there is wheezing, fullness, and flaccidity; if it enters the Kidney, there is Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst) and frequent urination. In cases of fatal Summerheat stroke, treatment must absolutely avoid cold substances; only warm nourishment is suitable. Encountering cold leads to death.
If there is no hot water on the road, use hot earth to moxa/warm the umbilicus, and still induce urination, which can be seen as effective; if sweating is induced, chills become severe; if warm needles are added, fever becomes severe; if purgation is used, stranguria becomes severe. Treatment must not be careless. However, Shang Shu (Summerheat Injury) and Zhong Shu (Summerheat Stroke) are essentially the same disease, differing only in severity. The New Correction of *Jin Gui Yao Lue* claims that Taiyang Disease has a separate Zhong Yue disease, which is incorrect. Detailed discussion of treatment methods can be found in the Shang Shu section.
Treats dizziness and coma due to Summerheat stroke; or body heat, aversion to cold, headache, resembling Taiyang Disease; or alternating chills and fever, extreme irritability and thirst, vomiting and diarrhea. Regular consumption removes Summerheat toxins and separates Yin and Yang.

Grind the above into powder, mix with drops of water to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take five to seven pills per dose, gradually increasing to twenty pills, taken with fresh drawn cold water; for coma and blockage causing unconsciousness, dissolve the pills in water and administer via gavage. Summerheat stroke contraindicates cold exposure; this medicine uses cold water for administration, which is "treating heat with cold" (Re Yin Han Yong). Doubts should be resolved by understanding this principle.
