If the patient has a rapid pulse, trembling and shaking of the body that cannot be controlled, or hot muscles, dry mouth with cracked tongue, throat obstruction with hoarseness, named "Red Veins KT" (Chi Mai KT), this disease occurs in the third month of summer. It arises from the conflict between Qi of Shaoyin and Taiyang, causing stagnation where Ying and Wei circulation is blocked, leading to painful swelling of skin and flesh. Taiyang activates the excessive pathogenic Qi of Shaoyin, resulting in epidemic severity, affecting the Zang-Fu organs according to the seasonal summer epidemics. If the Fu-organs are deficient and injured by Yin pathogens, there will be chills; if the Zang-organs are excess and invaded by Yang toxicity, there will be internal heat.

During the eighteen Wu-Ji days of each season, this disease arises from the mutual rejection of Taiyang and Yangming Qi, with disharmony of cold and dampness, and stagnation of joints. If the Fu-organs are deficient, there is stiff and numb skin and flesh; if the Zang-organs are excess, toxic heat spreads to the skin.
