Treats nasal epistaxis caused by blood overflowing due to dampness stagnating in the meridians after exposure to rain and dampness; or hematemesis caused by stomach fullness when spleen dysfunction leads to dampness lodging in the meridians and blood flowing into the stomach.
Poria (Fuling), Dried Ginger (Ganjiang) (each 4 liang), Honey-fried Licorice Root (Zhi Gancao), Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu) (each 2 qian).
Grind the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 4 qian per dose, add one large cup of water, decoct until six-tenths remains, remove the dregs, and take orally. Adding 2 qian of Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Chuanxiong) is recommended. This formula is most effective for nasal epistaxis occurring in bathrooms.
When patients harbor accumulated anger, it injures the Liver; accumulated sorrow injures the Lungs; excessive rumination injures the Spleen; loss of will injures the Kidneys; sudden joy injures the Heart. All these factors can disturb the blood, causing it to accumulate indefinitely, stagnate in the chest region, and overflow upwards with Qi, entering the clear airways, resulting in nasal epistaxis, known as "Five Zang Epistaxis" (Wuzang Nu).
An unparalleled miraculous formula for treating nasal epistaxis caused by Qi stagnation.
Scutellaria Baicalensis Root (Huangqin) (6 qian), Red Poria (Chi Fuling), White Peony Root (Baishaoyao) (each 3 qian), Angelica Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Raw Rehmannia Root (Sheng Shengdi Huang), Honey-fried Donkey-hide Gelatin (Zhi Ejiao) (each 3 qian).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 2 qian-bi (a small scoop) mixed with Scutellaria Baicalensis Root decoction. If symptoms persist, administer another dose.
Nasal epistaxis caused by excessive alcohol consumption and ingestion of roasted, fried, or pungent hot foods (such as the Five Pungent Spices), which disturbs the blood, causing it to overflow upwards with Qi, is termed "Alcohol and Food Epistaxis" (Jiu Shi Nu). Alternatively, nasal epistaxis resulting from falling from horses or carriages, or being beaten and bruised, leading to chaotic blood overflow, is termed "Traumatic Epistaxis" (Zhe Shang Nu).
Treats nasal epistaxis caused by excessive alcohol consumption and ingestion of roasted, fried, or hot foods that disturb the blood.
Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu), Honey-fried Licorice Root (Zhi Gancao), Roasted Dried Ginger (Pao Ganjiang), Kudzu Root (Gegen), Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Chuanxiong) (equal parts).
Grind the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 4 qian per dose, add one cup of water, decoct until seven-tenths remains, remove the dregs, and take warm.
Treats all types of metal wounds, traumatic injuries, and cat or dog bites by applying the powder directly to the wound site; internal injuries where blood enters the Zang-Fu organs, causing congestion and overflow leading to epistaxis; and postpartum retention of lochia (stagnant blood) in women.
Flower Porphyry Stone (Huari Shi) (finely ground, 1 jin), High-quality Sulfur (Shangse Liuhuang) (finely ground, 4 liang).
Mix the two ingredients evenly, place them in a porcelain jar, seal tightly with mud containing paper fibers, allow to dry, bake thoroughly until hot throughout, place on bricks, and burn with 1 jin of white charcoal from the top until completely ashed. After cooling, remove and grind extremely finely. For injuries to various Zang-Fu organs and postpartum stagnant blood, mix 1-2 qian-bi with child's urine or warm wine and administer to expel the stagnant blood effectively.
