Da Chuan Wu (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata, peeled and navel removed), Nan Xing (Arisaematis Rhizoma), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Bai Fu Zi (Typhonii Rhizoma) (each 1 liang); Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, de-rhizome removed), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) (each 5 qian).
All ingredients are used raw, chopped into coarse powder. Take 3 qian per dose, with 5 slices of fresh ginger and 1.5 sheng of water, decoct and take warm. Effective.
Treats postpartum blood deficiency with lochia not yet cleared; qi stagnates due to turbid residues, causing disharmony of Ying and Wei (nutritive and defensive qi), mutual invasion of Yin and Yang, resulting in alternating chills and fever, or generalized edema and distension. These are all caused by Qi and Blood failing to return to equilibrium.
Da Dou (Glycines Soja Seed, stir-fried and peeled, 1.5 liang), Fu Shen (Poria Cum Radix, 1 liang), Zhen Hu Po (Succinum, 1 qian).
Grind into powder. Take with strong decoction of black soybean and Perilla Decoction. Also effective for cases with panting, urgency, restlessness, fullness, and dysuria.
Treats hardness and enlargement below the heart like a plate, with edges resembling a rotating wheel, caused by fluid retention, named "Qi Fen" (Qi Division/Disease).
Zhi Shi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, bran-fried, pith removed, 1.5 liang), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 3 liang).
Chop into coarse powder. Take 4 qian per dose, decoct in 1.5 sheng of water, take warm. When the abdomen becomes soft, the pathogenic factor will dissipate.
Treats postpartum deficiency-type edema and panting. Healing occurs upon promoting urination.
Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 3 liang, juice extracted), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed in hot water to remove slipperiness), Bai Mian (Tritici Vulgaris Farina).
Use ginger juice to knead the flour, wrap Ban Xia inside to form seven cakes, roast until scorched and ground into powder. Mix 1 qian with boiled water and take. Effect is indicated by free urination.
Treats postpartum fright where residual blood harasses the Heart, causing sudden hallucinations of spirits, inverted speech, coma, mania, restlessness, and inability to lie down or sit still peacefully.
Mo Yao (Myrrha), Hu Po (Succinum) (both separately ground), Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Cortex), Chi Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (each 1 liang); Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, de-leafed), She Xiang (Moschus) (0.5 qian).
Grind into powder. Take half a bi (spoonful) per dose, add a small amount of Long Nao (Borneolum Syntheticum), mix evenly with natural ginger juice and a little warm wine, then take. If this fails, taking the previous three remedies is also effective.
