To treat mania (Dian Kuang) where the patient sings incessantly and climbs over walls or roofs, this is caused by Ying Blood (Nutritive Blood) confusing the Pericardium. Add Yuan Zhi (Polygala Root, *Polygalae Radix*) with the heart removed, Tao Ren (Peach Kernel, *Persicae Semen*) with the woody part removed, and Hong Hua (Safflower, *Carthami Flos*), each 1 qian. Decoct in 1.5 sheng of water. (Formula see later.) After the symptoms subside, use Ping Wei San (Calm the Stomach Powder), reducing Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) by one-third of Nong Po (Thick Magnolia Bark, likely referring to adjusting Houpo ratio) and doubling the amount of Cang Zhu; use Chuan Sheng Ma (Ephedra Stem/Synephrine source? No, Cimicifugae Rhizoma is Sheng Ma, here likely Cimicifugae Rhizoma *Cimicifugae Rhizoma*) equal to half the amount of Cang Zhu. Decoct in 1.5 sheng of water until 1 sheng remains, and take it for complete recovery. It must be taken regularly to eradicate the root cause. (Formula see Large Department, Spleen and Stomach Category.)
To treat mania caused by Blood Heat, add Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger, *Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens*) and Sheng Di Huang (Rehmannia Root, *Rehmanniae Radix*) to decoct together. Take three times a day.
