Treats various sores presenting with black depression. First, treat with Goubao Wan (Dog Bezoar Pill), then use Wulong Gao (Black Dragon Ointment) to reduce swelling, disperse toxicity, and remove the surrounding erythema. Subsequently, incise the sore with a needle or knife to rupture the Dudan (Toxic Dan), remove necrotic tissue, drain pus, and then regulate treatment according to the specific syndrome. This method is applicable to carbuncles, furuncles, and deep bone abscesses.
Radix Crotonis Tiglii (Badou, 7 grains, skin and heart removed, oil retained, ground into paste) Bai Dingxiang (White Starling Droppings, 1 qian) Xionghuang (Realgar) Huangdan (Lead Oxide, each 2 qian) Qingfen (Calomel, 1 qian). Adding Chan Su (Toad Venom) yields particularly rapid results.
Grind the above ingredients together and mix, add 3 qian of white flour, drop water to form pills the size of wheat grains. Puncture the sore with a needle, insert the pill, cover with Ruxiang Gao (Frankincense Ointment) to draw out pus, blood, and toxic matter.
Dashui Shishi (Calcitum, 2 qian) Huangdan (Lead Oxide, half qian) Longgu (Fossilized Bones, 7 qian) Qingfen (Calomel, 1 qian).
Grind the above into fine powder, apply dryly, and cover with Ruxiang Gao (Frankincense Ointment).
Treats soft carbuncles and malignant sores caused by the binding of wind-dampness, resulting in whole-body pain.
Liqing (Asphalt) Baijiaoxiang (Pine Rosin, each 2 qian) Huangla (Yellow Beeswax, 3 qian).
Melt the above ingredients together in a pot, add approximately 3 qian of hemp seed oil, boil, filter into a basin of water, knead into dosage forms for storage. When using, shape into cakes in water and apply as needed.
Zicao San (Purple Cistanche Powder, also known as Shixuan San / Ten Acupoints Dispersion)
Treats carbuncles and ulcers where toxicity has formed; disperses rapidly if not yet suppurated, promotes rapid ulceration if already suppurated.
Jiegeng (Platycodon Root, remove rhizome) Danggui (Angelica Sinensis, remove tail, wine-processed) Renshen (Ginseng) Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, remove rhizome) Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizome) Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica) Gancao (Licorice Root) Huangqi (Astragalus Root) Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) Mutong (Akebia Stem).
Select ten medicinal materials carefully, sun-dry, bake until clean, then weigh: Renshen (Ginseng), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis), and Huangqi (Astragalus Root) are each 2 liang, while the remaining herbs are each 1 liang. Remove Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) [Note: text implies exclusion or specific processing], take in divided doses.
For abscesses that have manifested for two days, it is appropriate to alternate this decoction with Loulu Tang (Euphorbia Decoction) for consecutive days.
Sangjisheng (Taxillus Branch) Loulu (Euphorbia Fissuralis Root, remove rhizome, raw use) Shengma (Cimicifuga Rhizome) Mutong (Akebia Stem) Shegan (Belamcanda Rhizome) Chuan Duhuo (Angelica Pubescens Root) Dahuang (Rhubarb Root, sliced, stir-fried) Gancao (Licorice Root, raw, each half liang).
