The part of the lotus rhizome node (Oujie) where the roots grow is burnt to charcoal while retaining its nature, ground into powder, and blown onto the affected area. This prescription is found in *Yangsheng Jingyan Quanji* (Complete Collection of Health Preservation Experience).
It treats conditions such as aphasia due to wind-stroke (Zhongfeng), corpse-coldness (Shijue), and is also miraculous for sudden evil invasion (Zhong'e).
Take 3 qian of raw Pinellia Rhizome (Banxia), grind it into powder, make pills like soybeans using water, insert them into the nostrils to induce sneezing; if the sneezing does not stop, drink cool water to stop it immediately.
Geng Sheng's note: This prescription also treats the "Five Extinctions" (Wujue) and phlegm obstruction (Zhongtan). It is advisable to grind Banxia into fine powder and blow it into the nose; making pills for nasal insertion often causes breath-holding, which is harmful. Alternatively, make pills with water just before use to avoid the drawback of dryness hardening and blocking orifices.
It treats wind-epilepsy (Fengxian) of recent or distant onset, manic psychosis due to heart disturbance (Xinyang Fengkuang), salivary tide due to wind-stroke (Zhongfeng Xiantchao), locked jaw, and convulsions due to broken-wind tetanus (Poshangfeng Chu). Use 1 jin of soap pod (Feizaojiao), remove the skin and fibers, cut into pieces, soak in sour grain water for 3-4 days in spring/autumn, 1-2 days in summer, and 7 days in winter. Rub and strain to remove dregs, then pour the juice into a silver vessel or clay pot and simmer slowly until thickened. Stir with locust or willow branches to form a paste, take out, spread on thick paper, dry in shade, and store. When needed, take a piece the size of a palm, dissolve in warm water in a bowl, and instill into the patient's nostril. Saliva discharge after a long time indicates efficacy. To stop saliva discharge, drink one or two mouthfuls of warm salt water. Avoid chicken, fish, cold/raw foods, and damp noodles.
Cut fresh Rehmannia Root (Dihuang), wrap in paper, roast in fire, insert into the ear several times until cured.
Crush Lycopodium Herb (Wasong), extract juice, and administer orally.
It treats all types of toothache and removes bad breath, with great effect. Burn Rhubarb Root (Dahuang) to charcoal while retaining its nature, grind into powder, and use to brush teeth and rinse mouth in the morning.
After the White Dew solar term in August, collect dew from glutinous rice plants, take twice in the evening, and symptoms will dissipate.
Remove worm-eaten parts and powder from Chinese Gallnut (Wubeizi), roast dry, and grind into powder. For males, mix with female saliva; for females, mix with male saliva. Make a paste, fill into the umbilicus, cover with an old plaster externally to prevent gas leakage. Cure in two applications.
Geng Sheng's note: This prescription is extremely effective for night sweats (Daohan) and has benefits without harm. I once added equal amounts of Dragon Bone (Longgu), ground together, and used as described. It can also treat seminal emission and spermatorrhea (Mengyi Huajing) with miraculous effects.
Burn Sheep Horn (Yangjiao), scrape 3 qian of ash, take with wine for immediate relief.
