When a person suddenly suffers from stroke, they may fall into a coma resembling drunkenness, lose control of their body, either falling or not, with saliva flowing from the corner of the mouth. If not treated promptly, it will develop into a severe illness.
This syndrome is caused by wind-phlegm surging upwards, leading to chest bi-syndrome (obstruction) and blocked qi mechanism. This formula induces vomiting to treat it. One tael of Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Powder (Zaojiao Mo), five qian of Alum Powder (Shengfan Mo), and five qian of Calomelas (Nifen). Mix one or two qian with water; once it passes the throat, vomiting occurs. Alum is used to separate and expel the phlegm below.
For stroke-induced phlegm syncope, epilepsy, and convulsions, where phlegm-fluids obstruct upwards, causing locked jaw, upward gaze, and spasms, this method is suitable. Seventy tips of Aconitum Carminelianum Radix Preparata (Wutou Jian), seventy tips of Aconitum Carminelianum Lateralis Radix Preparata (Fuzi Jian), and seventy tails of Scorpio (Xieshao), along with ten taels of Malachite (Shilü, ground multiple times and levigated), are processed into powder. Form pills with wheat paste, sized like Euryale Seed (Qianshi). Take one pill each time, dissolve in half a cup of Mint Juice (Bohe Zhi), and follow with half a he of warm wine. Vomiting out the phlegm-fluids shortly thereafter is ideal. For pediatric convulsions, add equal amounts of Bombyx Batryticatus (Bai Jiangcan).
Geng Sheng notes: This formula is only applicable for excess syndromes involving phlegm obstruction in stroke, as well as food blockage in adults and phlegm blockage in children (Malachite is Verdigris).
For treating upper jiao conditions requiring emesis but where the patient cannot vomit spontaneously. Prepare one bowl of boiling water and one bowl of cold water, add a pinch of fried salt, stir vigorously over a hundred times until foam forms, then drink. Vomiting will occur immediately, leading to recovery.
(This is a purgative primarily treating lower jiao diarrhea.)
It treats evil heat attacking upwards, phlegm-fluid stagnation, regurgitation and vomiting of food, ten types of diaphragmatic obstruction and five types of dysphagia, alcohol accumulation, parasitic accumulation, blood stasis accumulation, qi stagnation accumulation, various types of epigastric fullness masses, and hot swelling pain of sores. It also treats difficulty in urination and defecation, sallow complexion in women, ghost fetus and abdominal masses, and accidental ingestion of copper, iron, or silver objects. Administer three qian with cold tea at the third watch (5-7 AM). Observe the expelled material by dawn. This medicine removes disease when present, expels parasites when present, without damaging primordial qi and zang-fu organs. Reduce the dose by half for children. Pregnant women should avoid taking it.
Four taels and five qian of the first-grade powder of Ipomoeae Petiolus (Bai Qianniu Toumo), half stir-fried and half raw; one tael of Arecae Semen (Bai Binglang); five qian of Artemisiae Capillaris Herba (Yinchen); five qain of Curcumae Rhizoma (Penglan, boiled in vinegar); five qian of Sparganii Rhizoma (Sanleng, stir-fried in vinegar).
Process the above herbs into powder, form pills with vinegar paste, sized like mung beans. After administering according to the aforementioned dosage, nourish the body with warm porridge immediately after, and avoid other foods.
