When Ding Chuang (Ding sores, a type of acute suppurative infection) first appears, people often do not notice. It may occur on the head, face, hands, or feet, or in the abdomen, hypochondrium, waist, and legs, with no fixed location. Within one to two days, chills and fever resembling malaria will inevitably develop, accompanied by unbearable headache and body pain. The nature of this pain differs from ordinary conditions; one must search the entire body. If a small sore is found with a swollen, black head, a red root, and a robust appearance, it is classified as External Ding (Wai Ding). There are also Internal Ding (Nei Ding) and External Ding. Both present with chills and fever, but Internal Ding initially shows no visible sore form. After several days, swelling arises in a specific area, which identifies it as Internal Ding.
Zhuidu Yin (Pursuing Toxin Decoction): Treats all internal and external Ding sores with miraculous efficacy.
Danggui Wei (Tail of Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (each 8 fen); Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Gegen (Puerariae Radix), Wuyao (Linderae Radix), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra) (each 6 fen); Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (each 4 fen); Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Gancao Jie (Nodes of Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus), Honghua (Carthami Flos), Sumu (Sappan Lignum) (each 7 fen). Add two zhong of water, decoct until eight fen remains. Take after meals.
Jinchan Wan (Golden Toad Pill): Treats all Ding sores.
Caowu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix), Xionghuang (Realgar), Zhusha (Cinnabar), Haijinsha (Lygodii Spora), Qingfen (Calomelas) (each 2 qian); Chansu (Toad Venom) (3 qian, dissolved by boiling in wine).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Use Chansu as a binder to form pills the size of mung beans. Take three pills per dose. Place a one-cun piece of Congbai (Scallion White) around the pill, roast it in ash fire until fragrant, then remove. Chew the pill together with the scallion and swallow, washing down with warm boiled water. Cover with blankets to induce sweating.
Badu Dan (Toxin-Extracting Elixir): Treats all Ding sores.
Qianglang (Stercorarius Scarabaeus) (one, wings and legs removed), Sha (Arsenicum Rubrum, likely referring to processed arsenic compound here contextually or typo for something else, literal translation: Sand/Arsenic), Bai Pi (White Arsenol) (5 fen, 3 fen respectively - *Note: Text says Sha 5 fen, Bai Pi 3 fen*).
Grind the above into fine powder. Form pills using Congzhi (Scallion Juice) the size of mung beans. First, puncture the sore with a Sanleng needle (Three-edged needle). Press the pill into the wound using the blunt end of a hairpin. Shortly thereafter, severe pain will occur, followed by the discharge of yellow fluid.
Jieji Yin (Urgency-Relieving Decoction): Treats all Ding sores.
Yejuhua (Wild Chrysanthemi Flos), crushed to extract one zhan of juice. Take with hot wine. Administer three doses consecutively in one day.
Another Prescription: Crush Machixian (Portulacae Herba), add a small amount of vinegar, and apply to the Ding sore to instantly extract the toxin.
Another Prescription: Crush Jiangbancao (likely a local herb name, possibly referring to a specific plant used in pickling or similar context, literal: Sauce Board Grass), add a small amount of vinegar and 3 qian of salt. Apply to the affected area for miraculous effect.
Hongyu San (Red Jade Powder): Treats Ding sores that fail to heal.
Qingfen (Calomelas), Xuexie (Sanguis Draxonis) (each 3 qian); Zhenzhu (Margarita), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Qianfen (Cerussa) (each 2 qian).
Grind into fine powder and sprinkle onto the lesion for immediate healing.
Daizhen Gao (Needle-Replacement Plaster): Treats hard, painful Ding sores and other difficult-to-treat toxic conditions. Application induces pus discharge immediately.
Add 5 fen of Sha to two wan of salty water. Boil until reduced to one wan. Add one liang of Kouhui (Potash/Plant Ash). Wait for dissolution, then continue boiling until dry. Add 3 qian of Baipi (White Arsenol) powder and 3 qian of Yinxiao (Silver Sulfide/Nitrate mixture, literal: Silver Dissolution) powder. Grind and mix thoroughly with good vinegar. Store in a container.
Shenyan Fang (Divine Verification Formula): Treats all Ding sores; application at the initial stage causes them to dissipate.
Lanjifen (Rotten Chicken Manure), Woniu (Helix Aspersa/Snail) (seven), Lizhire (Litchi Chinensis Arillus) (one), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum) (seven grains), Yinzhu (Vermilion/Cinnabar) (3 fen).
Grind the first four ingredients uniformly with the rotten chicken manure. Apply to the affected area.
