[Attached Formula] Spermatorrhea (Jing Hua)
Treatment primarily focuses on clearing heat. Leukorrhea and spermatorrhea are treated with the same method, using Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Haishi (Aragonite), and Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex). In cases of internal injury where Qi and Blood are deficient and unable to consolidate and retain, one may frequently take Bawu Tang (Eight-Ingredient Decoction) with modifications, while swallowing Chushugen Wan (Tree Root Pill).
Disease arising from excessive thinking originates in the Heart; use Anshen Wan (Calming the Spirit Pill) combined with tonifying herbs. Heat causes free flow; make pills with Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Ge Fen (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae Pulvis), and Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis). For spermatorrhea, the focus is primarily on damp-heat; use Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) and Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) to descend fire, and Muli Fen (Ostreae Concha Pulvis) and Ge Fen (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae Pulvis) to dry dampness.
Dai Yuanli stated: Emission of semen occurring during sexual dreams is called nocturnal emission (Meng Yi); spontaneous leakage of semen without dreaming is called spermatorrhea (Jing Hua). Both are caused by the stirring of Ministerial Fire (Xiang Huo); over time, this results in deficiency without cold.
[Prescription]
Liangjiang (Galangal Rhizome, 3 qian)
Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, 2 qian)
Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix, 2 qian, charred to preserve its nature)
Chugen Baipi (Catechu Bark, 1.5 liang)
Grind the above into powder, bind with rice paste to form pills. Take 30 pills per dose.
[Appendix] There are four causes of seminal emission:
1. Excessive mental exertion, where the Heart fails to control the Kidney, leading to loss of essence.
2. Unfulfilled desire for sexual intercourse, causing essence to lose its proper position and discharge through the urethra.
3. Excessive sexual activity, leading to uncontrollable slipping and leakage.
4. Advanced age with robust constitution but long abstinence from sex, causing fullness of essence and spontaneous discharge.
However, the symptoms are similar: some discharge profusely after urination and cannot be controlled; some discharge spontaneously without urinating; some discharge from the penis accompanied by itching and pain, often feeling like the urge to urinate. All should first take Chen Sha Miao Xiang San (Cinnabar Wonderful Fragrance Powder), or Ganxi Wan (Joy Pill), or Liqing Yin (Clearing Turbidity Decoction), additionally decocting together with Longgu (Fossilized Bones) wrapped in cotton. Alternatively, take half a dose of Liqing Yin (Decoction for Clearing Turbidity), add Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis), Muli Fen (Ostreae Concha Pulvis), Baifuling (Poria Cocos with Hostwood removed), and Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), each half a qian, and decoct for administration.
Nocturnal emission, commonly known as "nighttime dream intercourse with ghosts," is suitable for treating with Wendan Tang (Warm Gallbladder Decoction) removing Zhuru (Bambusae Folium), adding Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix), Lianrou (Nelumbinis Semen), Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen), and Chao Fushen (Poria Cocos with Hostwood removed, fried), each half a qian.
