Any medicine that can ascend and move the Qi has the effect of inducing vomiting. For example, Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), and Yacha (Sprouted Tea Leaves), mixed with a small amount of Shengjiang Zhi (Ginger Juice) and Cu (Vinegar), pounded into a paste with Qizhi (Pickled Vegetable Juice) and taken orally. The throat is stimulated with an Ealing (Goose Feather) to guide the vomiting process. Fuzi Jian (Tip of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata), Jiegeng Lu (Radix Platycodonis Stolon), Renshen Lu (Radix Ginseng Stolon), Gudi (Cucumeris Fructus), Lilu (Veratri Rhizoma), and Pi Cha (Arsenic Tea) are all methods that induce vomiting naturally without manual probing. Both powder and decoction can be used. During vomiting, the waist and abdomen should be tightly bound with a cloth strip, and the procedure should be performed in a place with poor ventilation. Another method: grind Luobozhong (Brassicae Napus Semen) five he, filter through Jiangshui (Fermented Rice Water), add a small amount of Qingyou (Clear Sesame Oil) and Baimi (White Honey). Take it while lukewarm, tightly bind the abdomen with a silk cloth, and stimulate the throat with a goose feather to induce vomiting. The goose feathers should normally be soaked in Tongyou (Tung Oil), washed with Zaojiao Shui (Gleditsia Sinensis Water), dried, and kept for use. Another method: take half a jin of shrimp with shells, boil with sauce, scallions, ginger, and other seasonings to extract the juice. Eat the shrimp first, then drink the juice, and stimulate the throat with a goose feather to induce vomiting; the abdomen must be tightly bound. Another method: mix Kuscan Mo (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix Powder) and Chixiaodou Mo (Adzuki Bean Powder), one qian each, mixed with Qizhi. For severe cases, use three qian. When using emetic therapy, use Ni Liushui (Revolving Water). Yi Yuan San (Benefit and Primordial Powder) can be used to vomit out Damp-Phlegm. White boiled water with salt added is required for vomiting. Renshen Lu Decoction is suitable for vomiting in patients with Deficiency syndromes. Before any emetic treatment, drink two bowls of water. Prepare a decoction overnight with Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) half liang, Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) two qian, and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) two qian. If vomiting does not stop, Shexiang (Musk) can resolve the toxicity of Lilu and Gudi; Congbai Tang (Scallion White Decoction) can also resolve Gudi toxicity; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) generally resolves the toxicity of various medicines; plain white water generally resolves all toxins.
Chong's Note: Among these three methods, only the purgative/emetic agents are difficult to use, as they involve mechanisms of severity and flexibility. Sweating and purgation methods are fixed protocols. Therefore, Mr. Zhu specifically annotated the emetic method in detail, fearing that people might not deeply understand its principles, leading to panic and disorder, which could harm the patient. Now, all these methods are listed here so that when facing diseases, one can adapt flexibly, understand clearly by consulting the text, and facilitate treatment without needing to search extensively.
Fish bone stuck in the throat: Mix Baitang (White Sugar), Baitanpi Mo (Endocuticle of Carbonized Bamboo Charcoal), Zisu Ye (Perillae Folium), and Huashi Mo (Talcum Powder) into pills. Hold in the mouth, swallow saliva gradually, and the bone will descend naturally.
Mushroom poisoning: Use Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) and Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) in equal parts, decoct and drink.
Poisoning from multiple drugs: Grind Wubeizi (Galae Chinensis) weighing two liang finely, mix with Wuhui Jiu (Unadulterated Wine) and take orally. If the toxin is in the upper part, induce vomiting; if in the lower part, induce diarrhea.
Resolving all toxins: Cut Fugan (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) weighing five liang finely, stir-fry lightly until fragrant, and pound finely. Based on how much wine the patient can tolerate, mix with Wuhui Jiu (Unadulterated Wine), grind together, strain off the dregs, and take warm. Soon after, severe vomiting and diarrhea will occur, and the toxins will be expelled. Even if extremely thirsty, do not drink water.
Resolving Nine-Mile Bee stings: Drill holes in Zaoguo (Gleditsiae Fructus), apply it to the sting site, and moxa-burn three to five moxa cones directly on the holes of the Gleditsia fruit. This will bring relief.
Tianshe Tou (Hebius amurensis or similar venomous snake): Chop Luosuo (Solanum melongena / Golden Thread Grass), Jinyinhua Teng (Lonicerae Japonicae Caulis), Wu Ye Zi Ge (Pentapanax Notoginseng Stem), and Tianqiaomai (Fagopyrum dibotrys Herb). Decoct strongly with high-quality vinegar. First fumigate the affected area, then wash.
Another prescription: Pound Renfen (Human Feces) mixed with Huangni (Yellow Clay), wrap around the affected area for relief.
Another prescription: Burn Pushe (Agkistrodon acutus) to charcoal retaining its properties. For fire toxins from the ground, grind into fine powder and apply with Xiangyou (Sesame Oil). For washing wounds, use Jinghua Shui (Well Water).
Tianhuo Dai (Erysipelas or burn): Stir-fry Baixian Ni (Dictamni Cortex Mud), grind finely, and apply with Xiangyou (Sesame Oil).
Another prescription: Burn Zhijimao (Pheasant Feather) and Emao (Goose Feather) to ash, apply with Xiangyou (Sesame Oil).
Treating Centipede and Quanxie (Scorpio) stings: Use the same method as for Nine-Mile Bee moxibustion.
Treating all snake bites: Grind Jinxiian Chonglou (Paris polyphylla) with water to make a paste, apply to the bite site. Also, grind into fine powder, mix with wine, and drink.
Another prescription: Crush Shuye (Tree Leaves), Yutai Cao (Hydrocotyle javanica), Zhoumian Cao (Plantago asiatica), and Caojueming (Cassiae Semen) together, apply finely crushed mixture to the bite site for best results.
Poisoning from eating beef or horse meat: Use the same method as resolving all toxins.
Dog bite: Chew Zisu (Perilla Leaf) thoroughly and apply to the wound.
Mad dog bite: Take Erhai Tai Fa (Neonatal Hair), Chao Xin Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma stir-fried), and Ye Juhua (Wild Chrysanthemum Flower), grind finely, mix with wine, and take until drunk.
