For infants suffering from *Suojing* (Lockjaw, a spasmodic disease characterized by rigid muscles and clenched jaw), which often results from staying in damp places for a prolonged period during childbirth, the body becomes stiff, the mouth is tightly closed, and the sinews are contracted and difficult to extend. Take *Fengzhi tu* (soil cultivated around dwellings), process it by heating/firing, take two to four [units missing], add one unit of salt, mix well, steam thoroughly, and apply hot compresses repeatedly to the stiff and contracted areas using a flat cloth. Start from the head and gradually proceed to the hands and feet. If the area cools down, re-steam and apply; repeat until dry. This is the instruction.
Take three kernels of *Leiwan* (Polyporus umbellatus, Wolfiporia cocos), grind them, and mix with lard (pig fat). For small infants, use half a *dou* (ancient volume unit) of water; for larger infants, use one *dou*. Mix the medicine with the water in three parts, take one part, place it in the water, stir, and bathe the infant. Begin bathing from the head downwards to the whole body, but do not wet the four limbs. Bathe once every three days, for three times in total, then stop. Discard the bathwater immediately after use. For those suffering from epilepsy (*Xian*), who present with fever and frequent convulsions, along with stiffness in the neck and spine:
For infants suffering from *Chong* (convulsions/tetany), presenting with staring eyes, costal pain, wheezing sounds (*Yingying*), inability to pass flatus which appears greenish. Take moss growing under eaves (*Wuying cai*), burn it, and scrape the ash into a spoon. Prepare three *hun* (ancient volume unit) of fresh well water, pour into a cup. Spit onto the spoon containing the ash while chanting a spell: "May the sufferer's condition worsen; may it rise like a comet above, fall like blood below; take from the left of the door, cut from the right of the door; if the illness does not cease, may you be dismembered in the market." Then, circle the spoon around the infant's convulsing areas, and sprinkle the water from the cup. Observe the water; if blood-like substances resembling fly wings appear, discard them outside the wall. Fetch new water, repeat the spitting, stirring, and chanting as before. If there is no reaction, repeat frequently until the signs disappear. This is the instruction.
Another prescription: Take two *liang* of *Hengshi* (a type of stone/mineral), rub them against each other to obtain fine powder, and apply this powder to the site bitten by a mad dog. The injury will heal.
One method: For those bitten by a mad dog, hold a clean bucket, pour water into a cup, the amount being equivalent to the liquid consistency of rice gruel served twice. Take three finger-widths of ashes from the bottom of the stove, put them into the water, and have the patient drink it. After drinking, instruct the patient to vigorously rub their hands together... Another method: For those bitten by a mad dog, grind the herb [missing name] together with *Tuomo* [possibly a specific plant or animal part], add half a cup of vinegar (*Xi*), and administer orally. The same medication applies to women. As follows... [text missing].
