Xue Lizhai stated: Postpartum deficiency vexation and fever result from Yang following the dispersion of Yin, leading to a deficiency of both Qi and Blood. If there are symptoms of aversion to cold with fever, restlessness, and excessive thirst, Shiquan Dabu Tang (Complete Ten Tonics Decoction) should be administered urgently. If the heat intensifies, Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) and Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) should be added urgently. If there is thirst and a red face, Danggui Buxue Tang (Dong Quai Decoction for Nourishing Blood) is appropriate. Misidentifying this as a Fire syndrome and administering cooling agents will lead to disaster in an instant.
Renshen Danggui Tang (Ginseng and Dong Quai Decoction)
Treats postpartum excessive blood loss where Blood deficiency leads to Yin deficiency; Yin deficiency generates internal heat, causing vexation and fullness in the chest and heart, shortness of breath, headache, mental agitation, and worsening of symptoms in the late afternoon.

Add the remaining herbs, decoct until three bowls remain, remove dregs, and divide into three or four doses. If Stomach Qi is deficient with heat, use Zhuye Danggui Tang (Bamboo Leaf and Dong Quai Decoction).
