Kidney deficiency fails to grasp Qi and return it to its root, causing Yuan Qi (Original Qi) to rebel and rush upward, resulting in fullness and pain in the chest and diaphragm. When massaged by hand, the pain radiates to the back; if massage is then applied to the back, the Qi dissipates along the hypochondrium to the posterior, dispersing and ceasing the pain. This is the normal pattern of disease caused by Qi dysfunction. However, kidney deficiency also fails to transport fluids, so water follows the rebelling Qi upward to invade the Lung, causing edema of the head, face, and both hands, shortness of breath, and wheezing. Consequently, blood transforms into water and stagnates together with it. Moreover, the patient has a history of Wind pathogen. Wind, Water, Blood, and Qi combine to cause disease, making the pain extremely severe. Herbs such as Chenxiang (Aquilaria Wood), Muxiang (Vladimiria Root), Wuyao (Litsea Cubeba Fruit), and Binglang (Areca Seed) cannot exert their skilled therapeutic effects. What method should be adopted? The answer is: First, administer Ershisiwei Liuqi Yin (Twenty-Four-Ingredient Qi-Flowing Decoction) added with Duhuo (Angelica Pubescens Root), Zhike (Aurantium Fructus), Wulingzhi (Trogopterus Dung), and fried Qianniu (Pharbitis Seed), decocted together with Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Fentang (Honey), and Wumei (Mume Fructus). After swallowing, take Yangzheng Dan (Nourishing Righteousness Pill) twenty pills and Xionghuang Wan (Realgar Pill) ten pills to regulate the ascending and descending of Water and Fire, and guide the discharge of stool. Next, prepare a dose consisting of Sangye (Mori Folium), Zisu (Perilla Leaf), Mutong (Akebia Caulis), Ejiao (Donkey-Hide Gelatin), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Radix), Taoren (Persicae Semen), Qingpi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), fried Yuanhua (Kadupul Flower), and raw Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma). Decoct according to the previous method with Shengjiang, Fentang, and Wumei, until black feces are completely discharged, thereby achieving complete recovery.
Kidney deficiency fails to transport fluids, compounded by immoderate consumption of alcohol. Falling asleep immediately after intoxication causes wine and water to accumulate and interact in the abdomen, while facial toxins further obstruct Qi flow. Thus, water infiltrates the abdominal wall causing pain. Treatment method: Use Qian Shi Xuanfeng San (Qian’s Dispersing Wind Powder), decocted with honey water, followed by swallowing Shenbao Wan (Divine Preservation Pill). Wait for smooth bowel movements, then administer one part Qingmuxiang Wan (Green Sandalwood Pill) and two parts Anshen Wan (Kidney-Anchoring Pill), decocted together with Erchen Tang (Two-Cured Decoction) with a small amount of salt and Shengjiang. Swallow on an empty stomach. Once Spleen and Kidney Qi recover, peace will naturally return.
Cases of Qi obstruction due to latent heat in the Lung Meridian, or due to Phlegm-Water accumulation in the Upper Jiao, are generally treated with Fuling (Poria), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Zhike, and Jiegeng. For those with Lung Heat, Rusheng San (Like-Sage Powder) is used with the addition of Sangbaipi (Mori Cortex) as an adjuvant; for Water-Qi retention below the Heart, Xiaobanxia Fuling Tang (Minor Pinellia and Poria Decoction) proves effective; for chest irritability, Huoren Shu (Book of Living Persons) recommends using Shanzhizi (Gardeniae Fructus).
