Take two seeds of Crotonis Fructus (Badou, 巴豆), peeled; two qian of Semen Colocynthidis powder (Zaojiao mo, 皂角末); two dates, peeled and pitted. Pound them together to make pills the size of a Chinese quince seed (Wuzi da, 梧子大). Administer one pill with wine, coated with Cinnabar (Zhusha, 朱砂).
There is accumulation within the body and pathogenic influence from without. Yang fails to ascend, Yin fails to descend. The pathogens obstruct the diaphragm, all due to improper diet. The pulse is often deep (Fu mai, 伏脉) or imperceptible (Jue mai, 绝脉). Do not give grain food or rice soup; if ingested, death will ensue immediately. One must wait for one to two hours after vomiting ceases, until extreme hunger sets in, before allowing food intake.
For treating Huoluan (Vomiting and Diarrhea Syndrome) without thirst:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Gancao (Licorice Radix).
Decoct in water and take orally.
For treating Huoluan with thirst, remove Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig):
Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Zhuling (Polyporus), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma).
Decoct in water and take orally.
For treating Huoluan:
Sharen (Amomi Fructus), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Gancao (Licorice Radix) (each 1 liang); Chifuling (Red Poria), Huoxiang (Agastaches Herba), Bian Dou (Dolichoris Semen) (stir-fried briefly with Ginger Juice); Mugua (Chaenomelis Fructus) (each 1 liang); Xiangru (Moslae Herba), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex) (processed with Ginger Juice, each 4 liang).
Take 1 liang per dose, with three slices of fresh ginger and one date, decocted in water. If heart pain precedes, vomiting occurs first; if abdominal pain precedes, diarrhea occurs first. If both heart and abdomen hurt simultaneously, vomiting and diarrhea occur together. If food is consumed immediately, death will follow instantly. One should induce vomiting to raise the Qi and disperse pathogens. Use salt solution or alum solution to induce vomiting. Muscle cramps belong to blood heat; use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction).
For treating Huoluan with simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea:
Huoxiang (Agastaches Herba), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Gancao (Licorice Radix), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Zhuling (Polyporus).
Add one zhong and a half of water and five slices of fresh ginger, decoct, and administer orally. It is beneficial to take it together with Xiangru Yin (Mosla Drink).
For treating Huoluan vomiting and diarrhea. As long as a trace of Stomach Qi remains, taking this prescription can restore life.
Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, white part removed), Huoxiang (Agastaches Herba) (equal amounts).
Take 1 liang per dose, decoct in water and take orally.
For treating Huoluan with simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea, dizziness, vertigo, muscle cramps in hands and feet, and cold limbs. If medication is delayed even slightly, rescue may be impossible within moments.

Stir-fry together until scorched, add three bowls of water, boil vigorously one hundred times, then add the above herbs and decoct. Take at any temperature preferred by the patient.
