Treats the prevalence of damp-heat in the sixth and seventh lunar months. According to Five Element theory, Earth overcomes Water; here, damp-heat impairs the Spleen and depletes Kidney Water. Damp-heat combines to affect the Large Intestine (Metal). Therefore, cold-natured herbs are used to rescue the condition. When Dry Metal (Lung/Large Intestine) is invaded by damp-heat, it cuts off the source of Cold Water (Kidney) generation. Once the source is cut off, Kidney deficiency occurs, leading to severe cases of Wei syndrome (flaccidity syndrome) and Jue syndrome (cold extremities). Symptoms include flaccidity and coldness below the waist, paralysis preventing walking, and deformity of the feet. This formula treats these conditions.
