Method for treating sudden collapse due to summerwind: Generally, when a person suffers from heat stroke, it first affects the Heart, causing temporary coma. One must absolutely not drink cold water or lie on wet ground. The method is to first administer hot water or Tongbian (Child's Urine), and use cloth soaked in hot water to moxa/iron the navel area and Qihai (CV6). Gradually warm it until the heat penetrates the navel and abdomen. Wait for the patient to regain consciousness, then administer medicine. If one faints suddenly while traveling, quickly help them to a cool place, scoop up hot earth from the road, make a nest around the navel, and have someone urinate into it to restore consciousness. Then灌 (administer) human urine, or dig into the ground, stir the mud into a slurry, and drink it.
Another prescription: Chew three cloves of Dasuan (Garlic Bulb) finely, swallow with warm water. Absolutely avoid drinking cold water; pouring cold water over the body will cause death.
The pulse may be choppy (Se), fine (Xi), soggy (Ru), or slow (Huan); all indicate dampness invasion, which can be diagnosed accordingly. Dampness comes either from external invasion or internal generation. In rainy weather and damp places, it is appropriate to use bland-flavored herbs that promote diuresis and leach out dampness. If the pulse is deep and fine, and the condition originates from below, presenting as heavy legs and Hongjiaojiao (Hong Kong foot/crural swelling), sweating should also be induced.
Treat various types of dampness.
Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Gancao (Licorice Root), Jiu Qin (Scutellariae Radix processed with wine), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma).
Add two zhong of water, three slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma). Decoct. For dampness in the upper jiao, add Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma); for dampness in the lower jiao, add Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma). For internal dampness, add Zhuling (Polyporus) and Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma); for dampness with pain and heat in the middle jiao, add Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma); this is also used for excess patterns. For obese individuals whose heaviness, fatigue, and lassitude are caused by dampness due to Qi deficiency, add Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) and Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma). For thin, dark-complexioned individuals whose heaviness, fatigue, and lassitude are caused by damp-heat, add Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), and Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba).
